Denstang65
I thought I would post a few pics of the Shuttle being piggybacked on a 747 Yesterday afternoon. I took the pics from the roof of my house while the Shuttle was dropping altitude for a fly over Disneyland just 6 miles away from where I live. The California fly overs where done at low altitudes, some as low as 1,500 feet. If you type the words " The Shuttle " and hit search engine, you can get to many sights that have pics and videos of the the different fly overs. From what I understand, the Endeavor is the last of the Shuttles to be flown to its final home. This marks the end of an era, the Space Shuttle program. I have watched many launches and landings, including the horrific Challenger and Columbus tragedies. Through it all, I never thought I would ever see the Shuttle in person. I finally got too! What made it even more special, my wife was by my side on the roof with me. What was really cool was hearing my boy tell me that his elementry school was watching the news following the Shuttles fly overs. When the Shuttle flew over our area, all the teachers had the kids go out to the field and actually see it flyby. God Bess the USA! Thank you NASA for providing those special crafts to help this country grow.

brianspony
I seen one many years ago leaving Holloman AFB strapped to a 747. The one and only time I believe it ever landed at Whites Sands. I was standing about 500' away watching it. How it ever got airbourne as large as it was is amazing. Very special moment I will never forget.
John Canfield
I've got some shots a friend who was flying took over the New Orleans area this past week. Pretty amazing, and sad at the same time. I've also got a photo my dad took of the test shuttle Enterprise flying low over out old state capitol back in '84 for the World Fair. It make for a great bookend to the Endeavour shots.
ingram4868
IMO, the manned space programs are not something we should abandon.
John Canfield
In total agreement. The benefits to the whole of mankind has far outweighed the dollar costs and the pride that it has brought to this country cannot be measured by any stick.
