The Alcoa wheel purchase wait/want list?

Assuming a quality job, how does powder coating hold up to scratches, etc? I just don't want them to look all chipped up. I'm a little OCD about wheels in general...

Every good black wheel out there is powdercoated. WAY tougher than any paint coat system.

We made these wheels all in one finish so that customers who wanted the wheel could buy at the same (lower) price, and get in on this offering, then take their time deciding on powdercoat, etc... once they took delivery and had 'em in their hot little hands. Make 'em gloss black, matte black, gun-metal, silver, whatever. Adding the powdercoat option on OUR end would have complicated the deal and made it drag on past 2012, which I wasn't willing to do.

Powdercoating is tough, beautiful, and costs way less than most people think.

Jer,

Did Shelby originally offer these wheels in different finishes? Was black one of the options? If so, were they powder coated? If they were powder coated, could you pass along the paint code or power coat equivalent, so the original finish could be duplicated on these wheels?

They were offered in the regular Alcoa Durabright finish (same as now), or we had them powdercoated black before shipping them.

I'll try to get you the black powdercoat "color code" we used.

Jer,

I was wondering what kind of wheels are going on a 2011 super snake since the alcoas are discontinued. That's if 2011 gt500's are still being super snaked. I know when I looked at the build your own section you could select the black alcoas and they look really good on the black cars.
