Wayne in NJ
Hi! New to forum, not sure if this was covered in another thread. Read, at some point, over the past year, Mr. Shelby saying there were plans of a Ford Focus being 'Shelby-ized', to, (among other things), make the Shelby brand even MORE accessible...(to slobs like me)! (Love my '87 Shelby Charger, WISH I could afford a GTS...a Shelby Focus would be within reach). Anyway, any info about this happening? Thanks! MY500SS
Welcome to TS Wayne. At the Dearborn event last year we got to tour the Michigan Proving Grounds. During the tour our guide pointed out 2 Fords covered in camouflage. He said "you Shelby folks will be interested in those two cars". Both were the Focus. Not saying yes to you question but it does point to Ford and Shelby working on it. Post up some pics of your Shelby when you get a chance.

robertlane
Welcome to Team Shelby. Many of us would love to see a reincarnation of the 1980s Shelby days - small, high output 4-cylinder engines.
clark17357
the new Focus is pretty nice looking. I would be very interested in seeing the Shelby treatment of such a car. Jim

Wayne in NJ
We're picking up a new Fusion tomorrow, (swapping out the '06, 6 cylinder for a '12 four cylinder for the wife's commuter). ANYWAY, (BACK ON SUBJECT), while discussing the possibility of Shelby/Focus with the salesman, he mentioned the new Focus ST will (supposedly) be arriving at their dealership soon. 252 hp! 05mustangman
Maybe that's what the guy at the proving ground was meaning. Us high performance folks will appreciate a small car with some pretty good power. ie: the Focus ST. Would love to see what Shelby could do with an ST. Wayne in NJ
Welcome to TS Wayne. Post up some pics of your Shelby when you get a chance. Thanks for the 'welcome'! Been attempting to post pics, but I guess I have to figure out how to reduce the size, ("I'm old...I'm confused!"-Uncle Leo from Seinfeld)...here's a link to the former owner's photo bucket shots of my car, (have his permission, BTW): http://s1141.photobucket.com/albums/n599/ohlarikd/Shelby%20Charger/#!cpZZ4QQtppZZ20

Bob Knudsen
I would be interested as well. My 16 year old son just took my DD away when he took my 99 SHO. I am using my F150 until I get a new DD. The Focus ST is at the top of my list, a Shelby version would have to be given some serious consideration. Wayne in NJ
What do you think of the Fusion? It's our 2nd one, though, the new one is a four cylinder, looking for better MPG for her commute to Kearny from here in Sayreville. We liked the 1st, put 130,000 on it. No problems, just normal maintenance, with the one exception being an annoying clicking noise, (the last 3± years), from the driver's side front brake. The Ford dealer's service guy(s) AND another mechanic (who does the work on my 64 1/2 Mustang), both said it wasn't going to give any stopping problems, so we've lived with that). jpgillespie
I was in Las Vegas two weeks ago and stopped at Shelby, took the factory tour and they had a Focus up on a lift way in the back. They wouldn't comment on what they are doing with it. It would be a cool DD. The tour was great.
SSSNAKE
I was wondering what was taking Ford so long to develop a "pocket rocket" as Mr. Shelby would call them. With gas prices the way they are, it's about time.

YZD263
The last gen European Focus (the one we never got in North America) had both an ST version and a more potent RS version with around 300hp. I had a chance to see one of those RS Focus on Mustang Alley in 2012 at the Ford Racing stand and it was one very nice hatchback. The car is FWD, not AWD though. Here is what Ford is planning for the current version, according to a British car mag. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/Ford-Focus-RS-2014-first-details-of-350bhp-hot-hatch/ This would be a great starting point for a modern day version of the GLHS. What is also interesting is that the Ecoboost 4 used in the Focus RS will likely also be used in the Mustang.

ingram4868
A Shelby Focus would be so attractive to the younger folks that Ford might have to hire more workers to keep up with demand.

David Hawkins
A Shelby Focus would be so attractive to the younger folks that Ford might have to hire more workers to keep up with demand. But will the Younger Folks spend $40K for a Focus when they can buy a late model used GT 500 with low Miles?
ingram4868
40K would not be attractive in todays economy unless you could buy the car at a base price and then buy all the performance bolt ons as you saved up.
David Hawkins
You can buy a Focus Premium for just over $29K and a Focus ST Premium for just over $33K so I would expect the Focus SHELBY would be about $38K to $40K.
YZD263
This car's main competitors in terms of size and power would be cars like the VW Golf R, Subaru STI and Mitsubishi Evo and it should be priced accordingly (starting in the mid 30s). Unless it is significantly quicker and/or more powerful, a Shelby Focus could not be priced much higher than these as it is lacking the AWD these other cars have. RogerS
How about a stock Focus ST pulling .96 G on the skid pad! Very nice base to begin a project. And for the record a Focus ST with sun roof and premium paint color MSRP's at just under $26K. One of the major mags has a comparison of the ST, GTI and Mazda Speed3. Pretty interesting reading.
