Frank S
This CARMAX for-sale item, all de-striped, shows Tag 000G000, "Damaged Unit". What do you suppose that means? http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1ZVHT82H575295148

shelbymotorsports
This CARMAX for-sale item, all de-striped, shows Tag 000G000, "Damaged Unit". What do you suppose that means? http://services.ford...VHT82H575295148 There is a story here regarding this SGT, so far I have most of the puzzle pieces but not all. It appears this SGT was damaged right before or during shipping from SAI to the dealer. It was repaired at a Las Vegas Ford dealership and then sent to auction where it was sold in May/June 2007. I need to dig deeper but there is a possibility that this SGT was damaged a second time while at the auction. The AutoCheck report makes no mention of either of these incidents althought they do show it going thru the auction process. As of todays date, no one has registered this car with us. rocky
It could be that the car was damaged and repaired, this is more common that you may think. It was common for the car to be repaired if it was damaged after the build,I know this first hand. Maybe some lawmaker found this out and they are now required to post that info. on the sticker, I hope that is the case.
twobjshelbys
Cars fall off rail cars or get damaged during unloading etc. all the time. They usually go to auction. I think it is unusual that it is noted on the sticker. It's an automatic "car fax fail"...
Glenn Greenwell
This was an interesting post, several years ago I saw a manufactor note stating this vehicle was pulled from the assembly line and test driven for quality control. I would sure like to know more from the Shelby side of the story. I am sure that it is not unusual for cars during production to get dings and scrapes by accident occassionally. I would also have to believe this one had a pretty good collision with something for a factory notation. GG

MJN
after seeing what cars go through at the proving grounds, I would be hesitant to buy one after a "test drive" I know when the Raptor first came out and I was waiting for my order, SVT was putting stickers on some of them saying they were test drove and the millage. I was a lucky one that never got the "test drive" treatment lol
Frank S
Whatever it was that merited a "damaged unit" tag was effectively reconditioned to allow the vehicle to run 45,000 miles somehow. I'm seeing echoes of Botticelli in photo No. 8 on the Carmax page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_Venus_%28Botticelli%
Frank S
Here's another window sticker (GT500 this time) with a "TAG 303M686 J. COLLINS". Could J. Collins be the person who ordered it?
