CSSHELBYKID
Has anyone put the terlingua side exiting exhaust on their shelby GT. I'm always just thinking of what mods I might do to my car. If anyone has, could you post some pics and if all possible, a video of what it sounds like. Thanks. EL SHELBY
Shelby never offered a kit the SGT/GTH (or Mustang GT for that matter). Don't know if anyone worked one to fit on the SGT. Many of the Terlingua guys and gals recomended against because it made everyday driving nearly impossible at the exhaust dragged on speedbumps, driveways, etc.
dh777
The Terlingua exhaust is too low and it drags on everything. I was never too happy with it on our Terlingua. The Borla muffler seems to be made of a thin gauge metal. It has cracked a few times and this last time it finally split in half. Others have had the same problem. Since the muffler was cracked so badly this last time, I set out to try and correct some of this problems. Below is what I came up with. These are Kooks long tube headers, cats and H-pipe. Magnaflow magna packs and SpinTech transition 90 and oval pipes. The only thing that was still used from the old Terlingua exhaust was the tips (which now are the lowest point of the exhaust system. This system fits up tighter and higher and sounds about the same. I don't see why this couldn't be done to an SGT. You still will have some clearence issue, but is is not as bad as the Terlingua exhaust thanks to the oval pipes
CSSHELBYKID
Thanks to you all for the pics and input. I do realize that a shelby GTs sound is about the best out there. You just can't beat old American throaty muscle CSshelbykid
EL SHELBY
Very cool DeWayne. I wondered about a simular set-up for the SGT and pondered going without the muffler altogether as I'm running a delete now. Thanks for sharing.
dh777
The secret is the oval pipe. The tip was made from an oval pipe but nothing else was. You gain about a 1/2' clearance with the oval pipe - which may not sound like much, but it is huge in comparison to all the dragging pipes we use to have. 2007_Shelby_GT
Here is something interesting http://www.fordracin...tKeyField=22346 That doesn't look like an "X" pipe, more like an "asterik" pipe! Guess it's meant to emulate the Boss with side AND rear exits! I've been looking for/at the side exit exhaust - at one time Borla made the exhaust and it could be purchased through Shelby - clearance issues and what not ended it's availability. Guess a custom oval or flat tube exhaust would be in my future if I really want one! Sam
richard m.switzer
Just saying ,why not do the best of both worlds ,replace your FR-X-pipe with another FR-X-pipe ,,and still do back and side exhaust ,,kit is like $ 800.00 ,,bolts on .
