Bumper surround match Perf. White

Any of you Perf. White owners. How is the factory paint match of your bumper covers. Mine is not very good and on the warm side. I am looking to get a clear bra that usually turns white warm and I fear I will end up with Yellow. Trying to decide if I should have them matched better. Dont want to spend the $$ if it is a common theme. Thanks for your input.

MIne is not a perfect match, but you can only tell when the light is just right. I am going to keep it the way it is, as the paint quality is great,

Thanks Klastinger.. That is exactly what I am rolling around with. The factory paint is always great. You get it resprayed and you have orange peel issues etc. But mine looks like its a bolt on kit to a mustang. Bringing it to Ford to see what they say but will likely pay out of pocket and go to a very high quality shop to ensure quality controls. Will report back.. Thanks guys.!

Just an FYI, I just was made aware the reason for my hood not matching perfectly was that the paint code used on it was from Performance White from 2011 and my car which is a 2012 is HI-Performance White, a different color lacking the brown pigmentation. So 2011 had two whites available, and 2012 had one white available. Getting the hood re-sprayed now.

I got confirmation in less than a day that Ford is repainting my bumpers and spoiler. Its going to a local shop that does nice work that I have used as well. As long as the work comes out really nice A++ For Ford.. Goes in Monday. Will let you all know.

Very interesting on the different whites. Is the other 2011 warmer than the 2012?

Let me know how they come out. I have heard that some of the difference is because they are being painted on different materials.

So the saga continues. I brought my Black Mamba hood down to the same shop that did the bumpers and the paint does not match at all. Way to white. My car has a build of 7/11 but its titled as a 12. Paint code is HP. Not sure what the problem could be. Its a good shop and the bumpers are spot on. They are going to try again. Sucks.

For the very little it's worth: when I had the rusted-out bumpers of my F-150 replaced, the body shop had me come down and compare paint cards with the body paint. All of the cards had the same Ford paint code, but due to slightly different formulations there were several subtle shade differences (the cards had a much longer code that apparently gave the formulation).

I ended up very happy with the match, though of course the bumpers are metal just like the body.

So anyway, if the body shop has the Ford paint cards, it's worth a trip down to choose the color you want, IMO.

Boidster, It is worth a lot. I think that is one of the things that frustrates me. I offered them the existing hood for just that purpose so they could match it. When they did the bumpers obviously had the car and got great results. I hope its not a bust as its a 2K hood by the time your done...

Butt matching is the most complicated thing when it comes to automotive paint..... I run a high end body shop in STL and that is one of the most common issues. Especially when bumpers don't match from the factory from the get go, because they aren't even shot in the same place. We have a camera from our paint supplier that you set on the panel and it reads the pigments in the panel(don't ask how exactly) and formulates a color to mix. Comes in handy when you have color issues and variances in color. White is the toughest because its so persuaded by other colors, anything left in the lines at the factory or one overporn toner when being mixed. Painters have to make to make spray out cards.

CSVT2010, Thanks for the reply. Makes me feel better coming from an expert. Sets a reasonable expectation. He should be respraying it this week and said he wants the car and will do spray out cards.. I am sure he will get close. Will post when I get it back and on... Have 13 grills, strips etc to also install. Spring will be here soon!!

My 07 SGT has similar issues. When I had it re striped, I tried to get the front and rear bumpers re painted under warranty. They only honored the stripes. The body shop manager said that all of the perf white cars don't match as they are shot separately. The fact the materials also plays a role. The paint quality of the car is excellent and I really don't want to touch it. I guess they call this modern patena.

I have the same concern with my 2011. The paint color on tthe front and rear bumpers of the car are more creamy of a white, as compared to the body. In fact, it is more noticeable on a cloudy day. My rear spoiler is also this creamy white.

I WANT TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER AND START THE PROCESS OF A CLAIM. but, not sure if then the stripes my need to be replaced and will ford pay for them? To do it right....all stripes would have to be replaced and not just the portion on the front and rear bumper.

Then, if you get it painted, you got to goto the body shop ford send you to.

Went to a body shop guy and he said to paint all 3 would be about $1,500.

Thanks usgpru27.

Really appreciate the info and all that you guys have offered.

I am only 25 minutes from Fullerton Ford.

I am really disgusted with these bumpers and you guys have motivated me to move forward. Best of luck to all of you, in whatever you decide.
