Snoopy49
Can someone post a couple of pictures of a 2013 GT500 with a factory front license plate bracket mounted in the stock location? All the pictures I have seen are sans the factory bracket or mount.
VaporDude
The first one that post a factory front license plate bracket on their car gets shot.

Snoopy49
I know it's going to be painful to see, sorta like seeing someone kick a puppy. Maybe I should have the topic rated R to spare the young and innocent from having to view the horror show?
tedj
The factory front bracket is the bumper. There are two nice little dimples where you would drill...
Snoopy49
I thought that there was a frame or mount. Are you saying that you have to drill two holes in the bumper and then screw the plate directly to the bumper?
Afdharley
There is a mount, my dealer asked me if I wanted it......I said hell no. That mount attaches to the bumper via a couple of screws that are drilled into the bumper, the plate then mounts to this.
Snoopy49
I am interested in seeing the positioning of the factory mount. I live in the Socialist Republic of California and they require a front license plate. I have been researching my options concerning a mounting technique and I am nor real happy with the mounts available. If I have to have the plate on the front, I would like to keep it out of the airflow to the upper and lower grill openings without having to drill any holes in the bumper. I would also like to be able to bend the plate so it follows the lines of the bumper. I figure that if I can make it work, it will blend in with the bumper. The car is white and the plate is white with red and dark blue lettering. I am trying to avoid the miniature billboard effect. I think a modified Craig's no drill mount may be a viable option. Afdharley
Defiantly go with the Craig's mount. At least with that the front bomber stays unmolested.
Afdharley
Oh, here in Illinois, a front plate is required also. I've never had anyone question my lack of one. Plenty of vettes cruising around without as well
Snoopy49
I wouldn't sweat it if I were a good looking lady, but I am not and I know they will try to bend me over and make me squeal like a pig if I don't have the front plate mounted. :o

VaporDude
This guy makes a removable bracket for the GT500. I have one on order since MO requires one. I have been stopped only once for not having one on my 08 and he gave me a warning. I don't want to give them a cause to pull me over except for some spirited driving. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/2013-shelby-gt500-413/864447-2013-shelby-gt500-no-drill-front-license-plate-bracket.html

pjmarshake
Virginia requires a front plate, but will exempt "specialty vehicles." I know the Shelby's and Boss 302's fall in this category... It would be worth looking into if there is something similar on the books in CA.
Green Pants
I never put a front place on my 11GT and won't put one on the GT500. It just looks terrible. Never had a problem with the POPO, knock on wood. I would risk it Snoop.
Snoopy49
I have a neighbor that has a 2009 GT500 without the front plate and his wife uses it as a daily driver and she has been stopped a few times, but never been asked about the front plate. But the fact that she is a good looking lady may have something to do with the outcome of the stops. When I finally get my car, I will see what kind of attention it gets and adjust my strategy accordingly. Hopefully I won't have to worry about it. Thanks for the advice. jerseygator
New jersey is a police state that also requires a front tag. Haven't had one for 4 yrs. Been pulled over plenty. And am definitely old and ugly! All the best with your decision...

Green Pants
Green Pants, How is the car working out? Have fun. It's been a blast! Even my wife who is completely uninterested in cars, is blown away by it. I am really suprised with how much more solid it feels in corners than my 11GT. The only negatives I can think of is the trunk and the front splitter. I have to take my driver and 3w out to get my golf bag in the trunk with the shaker 1000. The front splitter requires a lot of caution when going over bumps and inclines. These things are no biggie. The Trans feels great, but I feel like I need to shift slower than my GT. So far I feel like this is the best purchase I've ever made! I really hope you get yours soon!
Snoopy49
The golf club problem came up in another forum. Their solution was to fold down one or both of the back seats. Not a pretty option, but at least you have the option. Enjoy the car.

I've been riding 2 years with no front plate in Ohio and cops never look twice. I used to get pulled over in my Saleen before for doing that though. I just keep the front plate under the passenger seat and if I get pulled over I'll say I'm on my way back from a car show and forgot to put it back in the window. Either way I'll gladly pay the $75 fine to not have to drill holes in my baby or worry about vibration damage to my paint.
sparko
I just mounted my front plate using the new Craigs bracket. Nothing touched the visible part of the car....very easy to install and a must if you are going to mount a plate. It seems in my part of the state cops look at front plates and if you don't have one they pull you over ( happened twice on my old car )...they give you a warning but next time is a ticket. Craigs mount is the way to go !

James Harman
I orderd one of the no drill mounting brackets from jlt. I don't think I will ever use it, so I will keep it in the trunk in cause I am pulled over. If the officer asks about my front plate, I'll just tell him I took it off for a car show and forgot to put it back on. Living here in california I have noticed that more and more cars are not displaying front plates, so I don't think it's as big an issue as it used to be. You really have to be doing something wrong to get pulled over, and then the officer has to be looking at everything about your vehicle for him to notice I think most of them would be so awe struck by the way the car looks from the front they wouldn't even think about it Most of the time, they come up behind you and don't even see the front. Bottom Line, be a responsible driver, (If thats possible in a Shelby) LOL, Have fun Be safe. :burnout: Edited August 5, 2012 by YorbaRaptor
2010KonaBlueGT
The factory front bracket is the bumper. Not on mine. My 2010 GT500 came with a little plastic bag in the glove box containing the mounting screws for the plate to the bracket and the part number on the bag to order the bracket with. I *think* the bag has a line drawing of the bracket on it with the printed instructions to mount it. I can check in the morning if someone needs me to. Been real busy the past few days so I may or may not be back on in the next couple..... Phill (just stepped in for a quick view)
