twobjshelbys
I'm at the airport trying to catch up and as you know their links aren't all that fast. One thing in these conditions really stand out. There are some folks that post a two line topic or reply, and then I get (on my 1920x1080 display) TWO FULL SCROLLING PAGES of signature area. I've seen it over two thousand times (literally! for some). Do we really need to have this much content consumed? In addition to the text, the size of the images down there is also large, making it really scare me about even trying to read this forum on anything "mobile" like an iPad or iPhone on the phone's net - I'll eat up gigabytes just getting sig blocks. Thoughts?
twobjshelbys
As a reply past the whine, here's a suggestion: Can the forum itself keep track of "seen" signatures and perhaps clip or suppress them if they haven't changed since the last time we saw it? 2010KonaBlueGT
There are some folks that post a two line topic or reply, and then I get (on my 1920x1080 display) TWO FULL SCROLLING PAGES of signature area. I have one of the longer sigs so you're probably including me, although I shortend mine *considerably* from what it was. And I also noticed that if I change it now, it applies to ALL of my posts, PAST and present (as far back as my archived posts go back). I also use my Android to view TS on occasion but I don't use the Mobile theme. Do you? I'm wondering if the theme changes the page appearence to omit sigs or jpg's. I used it once but when I got back on my desktop, IT had the mobile theme applied and it was a real pain in the ass to set back so I never used it again, hence my dumb question. twobjshelbys
My mobile is currently a blackberry and I haven't been able to sign on since the new web page organization since the BB browser doesn't find the sign on pages. Not a big deal since it is too slow and the amount of background content too large for mobile to be practical. It's not the data but the page rendering on the BB that is so slow. But I'm going to get a new Android soon and will probably want to do it. But with the demise of unlimited data - Verizon is changing from charging a fixed voice/data plan to a data centric plan with unlimited voice - the amount of MEANINGFUL data will matter. In the past I've found the "mobile skins" to be very limiting in viewing and format. I haven't tried this one (on my laptop) to see what it looks like. twobjshelbys
By the way, yours isn't the largest sig area of late. The first thing people could do is reduce the size of images in the sig area. I thought the page used to scale them to something reasonable. Now the sig photos are the same size as ones in the topic area. Just for reference, your last post fit comfortably from top of your topic to the top of the next in a single full-height browser window. And, there are sites that limit the size of the sig area to just a few hundred characters.

TrakRat
I'm not opposed to limiting photos to a nice 600 x 300 and number of characters to... I dont know, 200? I really couldn't care less if someone has special edition valve stem caps from CS's secret stash. A number of forums I've been on will only show the sig the first time you post on each page. That's kind of nice.
