662HP631TQ
I am new to these cars, so I am wondering, traditionally, how did people go about changing wheels from their Shelby. Were they offered through Ford, or found on Ebay? A combination of that and people who wanted the different wheels. I mean to say buying stock or option wheels after you buy your car. Does Shelby or SVT traditionally sell them after the cars come with them? I assume that a set of those base model wheels will set me back AT LEAST $2500.00 That is the one thing I will DEFINTELY change. They are both the same size amd I correct? Base and PP? Just wondering from those with more experience in the matter. Maybe I'll get lucky... and someone will want to trade! I would even give some additional cash, if I absolutely had to! svt13
I think I'm the only person who perfers the svtpp wheels over base wheels. Especially on a black car I think the base rims just look out of place. On both reds and grabber blue the base rims look good. All other colors should use svtpp rims. 662HP631TQ
The base wheels look better, the SVT wheels look like 4 banger turbo wheels to me, or those on 80's camaros. Too many lines and design. I am a classic guy, and I like the 5 spoke wheel the base model has, and even that has a twist of modernization. Burning Blue Star IV
For me, it's a pure toss up...I think both wheels in the '13 version (as well as the '10-'12's) look fantastic on the current body style. I really can't say that I prefer one over the other - I personally would like to have a couple sets and switch them up when the mood strikes me...but unfortunately, the price tag on these wheels from Ford is for the super rich only. blackonblack
Hi blackonblack...or blackonsilver now ...Dang...your car is just crazy beautiful in your sig. Thanks BBSIV - you know I took a big chance buying this color combo with the only way I had an idea as to what it would look like was from using the "build your car" tool on Ford's website...but I can tell you that the paint is unreal looking and matched up with the matte stripes and the wheel combo..man I love it. I washed the car last weekend and after drying it the sun came out and the paint looked amazing. Rained all weekend and the car never left the garage!! Anyway, thanks for the compliment. What color combo is your new car?

I remember you saying that also. I had just red a post in one thread that said that the Ingot Silver / black strip was not a "popular" color combo. Since I had not seen one (save for the one I built on Ford's website), I got a bit antsy...man am I glad I stuck with it. Thanks for reassuring me! What color combo is your new car? Yeah, you defiinitely did not go wrong with the color and the stripes...and the wheels and so on and so on.... I like the Grabber Blue, Silver and the Deep Impact Blue the best on this years car. Sigh...I'm not lucky enough to be able to afford another car so soon after getting my 2010. I got it paid off and right now a 2013 is not in the cards for me. But I would probably get a Grabber Blue again, but maybe with black stripes. I will more than likely wait for the 2015 and if I don't like it or it's too much money or there's no GT500 - I'll look around for a used '13 or '14. Enjoy that car! ISS - I had some issues with the stripes on my 2010. I would guess that wax/polish needs to be kept off of the stripes? I got some detailer spray on the stripes of my black 2010 and they were very streaky after that...got better after a while, but never perfect. Advice...? Depends on the stripe material - I've used about 5 different waxes on my stripes with no ill effects. However my car has the semi-glossy white ones. If you have matte stripes or even satin - I would keep the wax off of them for the reason that you mentioned - streaks.

Well I definitely learned my lesson. The stripes on my black one were satin. I believe they call them matte on my silver one...basically the same thing. Update 1: I just checked on the Ford website...they call the stripes gloss black...but they are not

I would keep any polish/wax off of the Matte Stipes. I assume they are vinyl (never had stripes on a car) and Liquid Glass Polish is not to be used on vinyl surfaces. On the other hand, LIquid Glass Connoisseur's Choice Protectant is made for Vinyl. If you decide to try it, do so on a spot out of site first to be sure you are happy with the results. The Liquid Glass Protectant will make your plastic hard parts (and probably the stripes) slippery and wax or polish will not stick to them. When detailing my cars, I always apply the protectant first. Then, I apply the polish. If I get any polish on the plastic it wipes right off with a dry cloth. Here is the link for the protectant: http://shopmpt.us/li...glass/lgcc.html Actually, I would recommend you contact SVT and ask them what they recommend using on the matte finish stripes: 1-800-FORD-SVT (367-3788) Just found this on-line. I like the base wheels too on my white car, but if I was in the market, I would trade you in a second.
