SHELBYCS6
thumping in the front of the car looks like major wear to inner tires front, but also noticed major outer wear to rear tires. These F1's in Canada are $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 per set which is crazy to spend on a car with 20,000 km. I need to find out what happened as suspension wise the car is bone stock and I never do burn outs etc. but it seems many people are experiencing this problem. Ford tells you to go shit in a hat but I can't afford this every few years. Any suggestions on replacements for these F1's ?
blk12svt
There is a guy over on the www.fordgt500.com forum that just put 275/40/19 and 295/35/20 Michelin Pilot Sports on his '11 SVT and said they made all the difference in the world. Now has traction and can actually get on the throttle in second gear. A lot more technical discussion over there about tires, mods, etc. for whatever reason... Good luck. I am buying some soon. Michelin's are great tires, but also really expensive! You might also want to take a look at some Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110s if you are looking for a good bank for your (Canadian) buck. BlakSnake
I am running the Bridgestone RE-11's all the way around and have been extremely pleased with their performance and ability to hook up over the stock F1's. They handle great in the twisties and hook up good going thru the gears. Plus, I think they have a cool tread pattern.

Mark That's a good looking tire...nice to see it performs as well..I also like the look of the Hankook V12 and it's getting high marks as well.... BTW...are others having this issue with inner tire wear on the Goodyears ?

BTW...are others having this issue with inner tire wear on the Goodyears ? I can't speak for the others, but all I had on the car, Goodyear wise, were on the rear when I bought it. The inner didn't look any worse than the rest of the tire. Both rears were down to 5/32 and I replaced them shortly thereafter with the Bridgestone RE-11s. On the 2010 500s, the recommended tire pressure is 35 psi front and rear. Could it be that the pressure is to low? Mark

Mark The big issue is the thumping when slowing down...a couple of psi shouldn't create these issues....many have tires set at 30 psi or lower without this thumping sound or odd tire wear...I'm thinking the rubber strut mounts have caused the front wear and a belt may now have shifted in the tire

The only time it thumps is when you are slowing down? I would think that if a belt has shifted or if the tire was starting to separate it would thump most of the time or you would feel a vibration. I guess if it was my car, I would have the suspension and alignment checked and then replace the tires like you are planning on. Mark
HesamiGT500
Michelin Pilot Sports. I cannot believe the astronomical difference. Hooks up like a champ. SHELBYCS6
Ordered the Hankook V12 from the Tire Rack and had them shipped from the USA...CANADIAN MEMBERS LISTEN UP ! I had these tires priced up with install and balance at several local places betwen $2,000.00 and $2,500.00..... I bought these tires from the Tire Rack and they charge you everything up front...tires, shipping, brokerage,Ontario tire tax and HST so the only difference is the exchange and we are now almost at par...my receipt fron Visa was for $1,300 and change shipped right to my door.....the total time...4 days from date of order. The tires are awesome...in the past week ....I`ve already driven in 100+ degree heat, serious downpours, stop & go and I just love these tires...(compared to the others..square tires would have been good..lol)....so.. anyhoo...thanks for the imput..... Mulanzo
I just ordered and installed the Michelin Pilot Super Sports 265-40r19 / 285-35r20 and man they are such a nice tire. They just always hook. Granted I don't flog my car very hard, but all the old slip I used to experience is no longer happening. I'm from Toronto, Canada. I ordered via Tire Rack had them drop shipped to a tire guy in Niagara Falls and he installed them there. No HST, Duty or other fees (other than $100 for balance mount and install). Total cost was $1600 some odd dollars for some seriously solid tires. Local quote from a tire shop around the corner was $2300 and drop ship to my door from Tire Rack was about the same. 05mustangman
Glad you like your new Super Sports. They are fantastic tire and have been totally happy with mine for the last year. Couldn't believe how much more they hook compared to the Goodyear. Like you said there is no slipping with the slightest throttle anymore.

twobjshelbys
My Ford GT had the Goodyear F1s on them (basically the same as the GT500). Then I replaced with Bridgestone RE050s before I even got it - real sticky over the temp range. But now I'm told the tires on the 2013 GT500 are even better, and one FGT guy says he would use them if they were avaialble in FGT sizes. So check out the 2013 GT500 tires for replacements on older GT500s with the F1s.
