Jadavis525
I have a 2012 just wanted to check and see if our design is based off an earlier model year shelby? Like a 67 etc. Thanks J
shelby1028
Looking at the 2012 from the side, I would have to say 1969/70.
James Harman
After owning a 1970 Mustang Mach 1, I also would have to say 69/70 same sloping design as back then
71sixpack
I must respectfully disagree. The body line on a 2010-12 closely matches the 67-68 fastback body line. I thought the '05-09 front fascia mimicked the 66-68 closer with the "gills" next to the headlights. When I first saw the '10-12 front fascia without the HIDs I thought of the '70 with the nostrils next to the headlights. The nostrils on the '10-12s are the turn signals. The shape and angle are close the '70 nostrils. The same could be said for the LEDs in the '13 headlights. The body line though, purely '67-68 IMHO. Bill Hamilton
I think the S-197 in general brings back memories of the 67-68 fastback but the 2010-12's front end is more like a 1970 of which I've owned three over the years. Of course the new GT-500KR reminds me of the 1968 GT-500KR's. With all the retro styling going on, I had hoped to see a return of the 69-70 Shelby hood and front end styling. But alas, I believe retro is nearly at the end of the line so the 2015 will be the future not the past.
GT500FLYBOY
The 2010-2012 GT500 was modeled after 2009. Do I win? :happy feet:
Rachane
As I recall from the Shelby GT-500 book, the inspiration for the 2007 was the 1967. The 2010+ was essentially a smoothing-out of the wedge of cheese shape of the 7-9. A couple of months ago I saw one of the Eleanor clones made from refurbished 1967 Mustangs, and was struck by how small and sleek it looked next to our "thoroughly modern" GT500s. Obviously ours are much more lavish, and have all that mandatory safety stuff added on.

91z28350
Funny, with the slope of the rear glass not going all the way back, the s197's always struck me as modeled after the 65-66 fastbacks.
