Myshelbysue
I bought a new car yesterday and I am trying to find out how I can be sure it is a Shelby. I have done the vin verification through Ford and the 82H means Shelby GT, I assume; however, a lot of things have been changed on the car because the previous owner was trying to clone the GT500. I am really confused about what I have here. I also have a sticker across the windshield for lethalperformance and a sticker on the side that says 650r. I will post some pictures. If anyone is able to help identify this car I would be very thankful. Also, if it is a GT, why do I not have a CSM? How can you find out this info. Some things I can see are: Paxton Supercharger & Intercooler (the blower has been removed) BBK 62mm throttle body 24lb injectors Kenne Bell Boost a Pump Interceptor Scan Gauge Shelby Wheels It has been lowered (or so it seems) JBA Exhaust Pypes Headers B&M Shifter
HARALD KELLEY
post under hood CSM plate which should be located on radiator brace driver side or as you are facing the car, right hand side. Your dash plate does not look to be correct for a Shelby GT. Others may be able to run your vin#. Paxton does not look like a Shelby install. Good luck
Myshelbysue
Does not have one.
ARMORINE
the dash plaque looks odd... if we can get better pictures of the dash plaque and of the radiator brace on the driver side above the headlight. EDIT: HOO50 beat me to it EDIT 2:upon additional review of the pictures im gonna call it. i dont think its a shelby gt. the door sills say mustang on them. dont think any one would switch out the Shelby sills if theyr trying to clone a gt500, wouldn't make any sense. on a side note ive heard a few SGT's got out without door sills, though this is just hearsay
Orion
There is nothing in any Mustang's VIN that will indicate it was a Shelby GT. Buying one without documentation usually means you're getting a fake or a "tribute". I've never heard of a GT650R. Why they would do that is any one's guess. grsybtch
Sorry, and I could be wrong, but I think the only thing Shelby about that car is the trunk letters may have come from the Shelby store. The front and rear body panels don't even look right.
MyBlueHeaven
The interior looks like the silver two tone interior of the california specials, however the front and rear facia aren't correct for that either. If you bought this from someone stating that it was a real shelby I would be waving the B S flag for sure!
Doug_GT350
Sorry, and I could be wrong, but I think the only thing Shelby about that car is the trunk letters may have come from the Shelby store. The front and rear body panels don't even look right. That about sums it up... I hate to say this but what you have is a Mustang GT with owner added aftermarket parts. All you can do now is enjoy the car!
07SGT0547
Unfortunately, it looks like this is NOT a Shelby GT... Send your VIN to StevenT@ShelbyAmerican.com for verification... If you run your VIN thru the Ford online window sticker website, look for the 54U option... That is the one option that only came on the Shelby GT's... Wayne Grey
I'll go out on a limb here - it is not a Shelby - WAY too many inconsistances! You have a nice looking Mustang GT. If the dealer wrote anywhere the word Shelby you may be able to do something. If nothing was on the purchase form then it is buyer beware and enjoy the car that you liked enough to buy. Now, you did post this on Sunday (if that is when you signed the papers) so you do have a 3 day cooling off period in which to take it back - I believe. shelbymotorsports
What you purchased was an owner modified Ford Mustang, it is not a Shelby GT nor a Shelby GT500. I recognize the fake dash plaque and model name of 650R as this modified Ford Mustang has been for sale for quite a while. Also depending on your state be aware that the Paxton blower may not be legal for use on the street. Best of luck. Steve
johnrehder
The Shelby Dash Plaque never has the owners name on it either, like the others have said enjoy it anyway.

Frank S
A few standard S197 GTs got out of the factory with a "two-tone interior" but without the two-color seats. Seems pretty clear by now that the SHELBY lettering on the back is a decorative touch and not a true vehicle label.
