My dealer has a 13 roush coming for around 50k I think he said it was. Maybe a stage 3 at that price. But if anyone is interested let me know. They give real good deals. 3ponies
Doubt it is a S3 @ 50K. I was at the Roush Plant 2 weeks ago and they had a nice selection of base models started. A loaded S3 is pushing 70K.

2010KonaBlueGT
Thats impossible. The roush is never more than the shelby. <snerk> Uh, yes. It's true. When I was looking to buy a car it was between a 2010 GT500 and a 2010 Roush 427R. The Roush was more than the Shelby by about 5 grand. It was a optioned up Roush (big wheels & brakes, short-throw shifter, shifter ball, blah X 3) but it was still more than my optioned up Shelby. NICE car and for me it came down to the way the front end of the Shelby looked vs. the Roush, not the price. My dealer has a bunch of Roush cars on his floor and the Stage 3 is in that price range. They just sold a optioned up 2012 S3 and it was way up there in price. I'll look to see if the ones they have now are priced high due to ADM but I don't think it is. Personally, I do not like the look of the 2013 S2 and S3 because of the hood scoop they put on them now. Phill

I just priced out a fully loaded 2012 Shelby on the USAA web site. With the options listed below (I added everything available), the MSRP came to $61,200. The loaded 2012 Roush S3 I compared it to was $61K (might have been a little higher but I can't remember the exact price at the time). A fully loaded 2013 Shelby priced out with a lot higher MSRP: $69,380 (with all the equipment listed below). The seats for both cars are Recaro's. Well I beg to differ that a 427R is a "special model". It's just what was available in 2010 when they had the 4.6L instead of the 5.0L in this next Gen. Roush/Mustang. Roush also had the 540H and a Stage 3 (also 540HP) in 2010. One other but I don't remember what they called it. Point is, the 427R was just another model of Roush Mustang, albeit somewhat limited (as are most, if not all Roush's?). BUT, in favor of your point...I did see a loaded up 2013 GT500 on the computer screen when I was at the dealer for $69K and change! And I don't think that was a 'Vert, which adds another $5K, but subtracts the Track Pack (and I don't remember how much the TT is). Either way, that's a buttload of coin! I definitely know the 13 is way more expensive because the roush mustangs didn't change as much. Plus from a business perspective there is no point to charge more than a shelby because the roush is not a better car, so why would people pay the same amount of money? Now for 2012 probably the roush was even with the 2010-2012 shelby because in my opinion the 10-12 was a ford gt engine in a shelby body full of bolt on crap parts. Don't even get me started with the 07-09s but that's understandable given they were new and it was early on. The 13 is the way this car should have come straight out in 2010 or at least 2011, and then improved even more by this point. Ford seems to be a little slow but that's ok they get their eventually. I'd have to check the Roush site. My 2010 GT500 was something like $46K MSRP so the Roush was substantially more. And my GT500 got every option available on a coupe (at the time). Then Roush came out with the 540RH (Hammer) and it was even MORE than the 427R. Hmm, and now that I think about it, I think it was the Hammer that was limited to 150 units. Not to interrupt the Roush talk, but look at the bottom of the main page for "Mustang does it!", that would be the regular Mustang section. ^_^ And the previous year Shelby's are not bad cars; Ford didn't push the cars then like they have decided now, as well as the Boss 302 contributed to the Shelby's current standing. Helix
You do make a valid point; the 1965 was the said 'best' year (well the first years at least) for the Shelby Mustangs back then, and all they progressed to do through 1970 was get more like a Mustang and less like a Shelby. This was not to say the cars were not still amazing, they simply peaked in performance in the beginning; also not to say being like a Mustang was bad, it simply wasn't really meant for performance. Fast-forward to 2006/07 we start back up with the Shelby GT and continue to advance, becoming better and better. History did not repeat itself here. The 427R needed suspension and brake upgrades to get to a S3. The 427 R let you buy a CHEAPER componet cool looking Roush that you needed to add things to. It also had some different trim and exhaust. I have 2009 Black Jack now that I use on the Road Track.

We just had a member of the Roush Road Crew in Texas order a GT500 as it was cheaper than a new S3 with the same options. You can't even get all the options that a GT500 has on a Roush. Phill I doubt the 2013 roush would even touch the 13 shelby. Roush even helped design most of the suspension on the shelby. Thats surprising that the roush stage 3 from 2012 could beat a 2012 shelby though pretty sure I read the 0-60 and 1/4 times are slower. But they won't touch a 13. 3ponies
As Ford makes Shelby the HP king Roush now has after market stages available to get even with the 2013 base GT500. I can order a 2013 Roush, take title and they will take it to the other side of the shop and give me a whole lot more HP. I am having some minor tweaks done in the aftermarket shop on my 09 Black Jack before the Woodward Cruise. I am pretty confident that my 08 GT500 is much faster straight line than the Black Jack. I don't hook up well with either car. Twisties is where I truly love the Black Jack. There were 47 Black Jacks made in 2009.

Hmm, and now that I think about it, I think it was the Hammer that was limited to 150 units. Phill FYI- the 2010 Roush 540hp Hammer, 2010 Stage 3 and 2008/09 P51A & B's shared the same forged internal 4.6L and TVS blower that would put down 520hp to the ground off the showroom exceeding the 2010 GT500's by more then a few pony's. The 427R has been the best selling Roush model since 2007, it was suppose to be a one year run (2007) but still continues today due to the popularity, it's know as a budget version that came only with the front Roush bumper cover and not the complete body kit, also with or without the Roush upgraded brakes package that came as standard equipment on Stage 3's of the same year. They also offered a limited amount (like 100 or 200) of 2008 428R's and 2009 429R's only a decal package no differance in performance options Then there are a lmited (100) 427R Trakpak and (50) 427R Drag packs built only in 2008. Also the Stage 1, 2 & 3's have been offer by Roush since 1995, back in the day total annual production was very limited maybe 300 to 500 total annual. In 2001 Stage 3 production was the first year of the M90 Roushcharger on the Stage 3's only 176 were built (we have #76) with a MSRP sticker of around $58k. 2001 they also started production of the 360R (same a Satge 3 but with "360R" rocker stipes and no exit exhaust), then 2002-2004 they offered such models as the 380R (380hp) and 440R (440hp) tuned with smaller pulleys, along with a few Boyd Coddington editions. FordFan1
Ford Fan I am hurt, no Black Jacks in your car count??? So sorry- i'm sure I missed the BJ - one of my all time favorites along with the 427R TrakPak and Hammer, after 2007 there were so many limited editions it makes my head spin, I also forgot the white & orange Roadsters. But I did list the P51A & B's in the forged internal discussion I'm not a fan of any of the new Roush body styling, IMO Ford kinda screwed up the cars since 2010, love to have a 5.0 but not loving the lines of the 2013. If I were to look at a newer body syle I would settle for a 2012 GT350 or 2012 Boss 302. For now my 2008 keeps me happy.
