mywickedshelby
congratualtions to james and the heat! I still think he took the cheap way to a ring with the dream team move and that will always follow him. but the day is clearly his and he is undeniably the best at what he does, no one could stop him! peter301
How could say that? Did MJ take the cheap way out when he teamed up with Pippin & Rodman, or what about Magic, Worthy Kareem, or maybe KG, Allen and Pierce?? Look at any NBA champion and you will find a three headed beast, and non of them were grown from with in, but were put together from the outside.... PS, if OKC can keep it together they will be one of the first to have done it from with in, but as of now no one has... You can hate the way it was handled, but stop hating becasue he didn't go to your team, or your team's management didn't have the the ability to pull off something like this. I would say that the situation that compares the most to what the Heat did is that of the Celtics. Garnett and Allen were added during the same offseason to a mediocre team where Pierce was previoulsy the only star; the team improved tremendeoulsy, won a championship, and has been a contender ever since. By adding Lebron and Bosh to Wade, the Heat did exactly the same thing. Having said that, even when a team adds a couple of stars from outside the organization, there is no guarantee that a championship will follow. Remember when Malone and Payton were added to a lineup that already included Shaq and Kobe? Even with 4 future hall of famers, they did not win a championship. So Lebron, Wade and Bosh still have some merit. Like him or not, Lebron is simply the best right now. I view the old Lakers and the Bull a bit differently. While Kareem was brought from Milwaukee, Magic and Worthy were not there yet at the time and were both subsequently drafted by the team. MJ and Pippen were both drafted by the Bulls and Rodman was the only key addition from the outside. To me, those teams were built over a period of time, in a much more "natural" way. I may be a bit old fashioned, but I prefered the era when a team had to build mainly through draft choices with a few trades of free agent additions here and there, rather that by simply opening its checkbook, or being lucky enough to be the team where a group of friends chose to play together to win their championship. peter301
Read it, same out come... Since you tried to type it slow and use little words, let me help you a little bit more with a simple congrats message. "Congrats to the Lebron and the enitre Heat orgainization on a great season, playoffs and NBA championship!" Pretty simple and direct, with out any of the "buts" you had in your first post, as winning at this leave is never cheap and I am not talking about the money seeing how they all took less to make this happen. mywickedshelby
respecting someone's talent and acheivement is wholly separate from thinking they are an asshole otherwise........my opinion stands. congrats to the heat~!

peter301
Spoken like someone who doesn't know that facts!! 1. Did you know that the reason he handled it the way he did was to raise money for the local YMCA's & Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland and Arkon? 2. That he did not take one red cent of any of the proceeds made from that show, which means over $3mm went to help those charities.. 3. That the only thing the public see's it the clip of the welcome party were he says, "not 1, not 2, etc...," but not the few seconds leading up to it. You know the part where he talks about building a dynasty, and that he made this decision to do just that! The same thing that every professional athlete has said in the past and should say in the future, because if they don't they should resign and seek help at the unemployment line. 4. Or maybe it was the fact that he turned down more money from everyone else, just to accomplish what most want, but most will never understand how to get it. I am done with this one, but again, keep on posting, you only prove my point with every little, simple word you type!!! PS, I don't blame you, no one in NJ is a Nets fan, after all they to choose to leave too...

First off MJ won with-out Rodman. Pippin was good because of MJ, he would not have been that good on any other team. Please do not compare James to MJ, it is not even fair to mention them in the same sentance.
William Rodgers
Basketball is not far off from the WWE, its a flipping joke and so are the players, I have never seen so many punks that act like immature sore losers in my life. Crazy how it used to be a HUGE TEAM sport and now it is a bunch of individual Punks for the most part.
BAD SNAKE
I'm glad the Heat beat the Thunder......Actually I'm just happy the Thunder lost period. Signed diehard Supersonics fan. :angry2:
peter301
Relax Francis, read the post correctly please... No one is comparing MJ to James, just the fact that if you look at any NBA champion you will see a big 3 of some kind. It's the map of making a championship team... EL SHELBY
The Heat and James absolutely played outstanding ball. However, the idea that Lebron's move to Miami and 'The Decision' was a purely altruistic move is laughable. He flat out used the kids and that youth center as a human force field against the haters and media; 'I'm King James, and I give to the community, so I couldn't be an ass-hat with a loaded ego.' I'm happy that the youth center was given cash by James, but a truely selfless man would not have paraded it on national television. As I recall James pretty much forced ESPN (or he would have gone to another network) to allow his buddies under a company James ownes to sell all the advertising to 'The Decision' so he and his buddies (or at least his buddies) could pocket the cash. This was actually a smart business move by James, but it also shows that the entire show was to self serve and had nothing to do with what was in the best interest of the NBA or the fans. Today, I think James is a much smarter person. I think loosing to the Mavs last year did him a world of good, made him a better player along with giving him a little humility. Keep in mind the guy is only 27yrs old, wealthy since 18, and up until nearly two years ago had the ground he walked on kissed by all since he was in Jr. High. When I think back to when I was 25 (Lebron's age at the time he left Cleveland) I'm pretty sure I was an ass-hat. In fact, I pretty sure my wife still thinks I'm an ass-hat.
