Steve@TrueForged
FINALLY!! after over TWO years of development we finally have the billet aluminum hood vents ready for the 2010-2013! i honestly was afraid a new hood would come out before we got it to market lol let me tell you, this thing was extremely complex to design and develop. much more involved than our 07-09 hood vents. hard to explain but the big curve in the middle of the hood does not help lol. what you see here is 99.9% of what the finished product will look like. we have the initial batch of 10 being made already. they will be refined even more than this one. not to say that this piece right here is not a work of art in itself! these are 100% aluminum. they are essentially one big piece that slides into place, like the factory piece. no modifications needed whatsoever to your hood. pricing for these starts at $400 (plus shipping) for an all brushed (standard) or sandblasted (prepped for paint) hood vent. optional finishes include: gloss black +$60 satin black +$60 polished +$60 clear coated +$60 black chrome +$120 oem paint matched +200 the mesh is tacked on so it is not removeable. custom 2 tone is possible upon request but will cost a bit more as it is a bit more involved. for the first 10 people who pre-order this hood vent we will include a free billet jacking pad (a $65 value). 1. Pistolwhip 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. we have the first 10 being made right now. after that, we plan to have about another 20 made immediately. we want to make sure the first 10 come out right and will test fit them each. after that, we can start cranking them out. standard brushed versions should be available within 2 weeks approximately. powder coated and polished versions up to 2 weeks after that. timing will largely depend on the finish chosen. we have a few resellers who will be offering this already and only have 10 immediately available so even if your name does appear on this list you may end up having to wait till the 2nd batch is done. it could take 4-6 weeks before its ready to ship. but with the pre-order you will at least get a free billet jacking pad. people who will be taking their cars to mustang week and the tulsa shelby meet will have priority for getting their vents as we'd really like to get the exposure at those two large events. if this is you, please pm me. as you can see in the pics, it was a key component in the design that the bridge between the two recessed areas of the vent line up just right with the space between the stripes on the hood. :coolman: ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* *****here is the possible 2nd version****** this is actually the first version we started working on. the louvered version. we then somehow jumped to getting the mesh version done first lol. the mesh version is a definite go. the louvered version will largely depend on feedback of what the gt500 community thinks. the cost would be the same for this version and available in the same finishes. it will virtually be identical to the mesh version in size and installation. they start out the same except the mesh version has the louvered sections cut out and has the mesh tacked into its place. we made a few prototype versions of the louvered one over the past two years and you can see a black chrome one test fitted on pistolwhip's car. it needed some revisions in the way it mounted so it was just a test fit at the time. IngotSilverSnake
Steve: Love the meshed version but do not care much for the louvered look. Both look to be very high quality. Actually, I am looking for a heat extractor that will allow me to close the vents and seal out the rain in case of a storm. I cannot stand to have rain water flowing into my engine compartment. I spend too much time detailing the engine to let that happen.

I spend too much time detailing the engine to let that happen. understandable. it would cost signficantly more for us to develop something like that. i feel the part is already at the verge of being "expensive enough" as it is. id hate to try to sell a hood vent that costs as much as an aftermarket hood lol. sure, we could try some type of low tech hinge flap thing but we dont want to add any ugly bolts/rivets to the part and we've found that welding on cartain areas causes the metal to warp. and not only that, but it would probably double the weight of the part, which most people wouldnt like. this part weighs probably twice what the stock plastic one does. if it was 3x the weight, you know people would have stuff to say about that lol. that's why we shifted from stainless steel to aluminum for these. 99.999999% of gt500s are garage kept and 98% never see rain. not even caught in the rain lol. i know you live in FL where monsoons can come and go at the drop of a hat. it might be easier to just carry around some small covers where you can quickly jump out of the car and slap them on if you see the cloud coming your way. what do you plan to do about that with the stock hood vent? same issue there. no stock flap or cover... Steve: You are right about the monsoons here in FL. Right now I don't drive the car if I see even a small chance of rain. I have done extensive searches for a replacement stock hood vent to no avail. There are carbon fiber replacements available in addition to yours but nothing with the capability to temporarily close out the weather. For older cars with steel hoods, a piece of flexible magnetic vinyl sheeting cut to size would work great. Unfortunately, the late model hoods are aluminum and magnets are useless. Until I find a solution, the Shelby will strictly be a fair weather car.

I'm thinking these statistics are made up... plenty of daily driven GT500's around here.
