doublegrabber
Just wondering if any other Team Shelby members are attending : Detroit, June 6 2012. AutoWeek called him a "chicken farmer, hell-raiser, race car driver, entrepreneur, American icon and truly, the most interesting man in the world." Carroll Shelby was all of these and more and when he died last month, he left behind a lasting legacy of some of the coolest and fastest cars ever made. Now, more than 40 of these vehicles will be showcased in the "Shelby Snake Pit" at the 25th annual EyesOn Design automotive design car show on Father's Day, June 17, 2012 at the Eleanor & Edsel Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. Car buffs are not likely to see such a stellar collection of Shelby automobiles gathered in one place again. Included among the cars assembled especially for EyesOn Design will be an original 1964 Shelby Cobra, a 1965 Mustang GT350 prototype, a 1966 Ford GT40, a 1967 Super Snake Mustang, a 1983 Dodge Shelby Charger, a 1999 Shelby Series 1 and the 2008 Shelby GT500 Mustang movie car used in the "Knight Rider" TV series. A Shelby Series I Titan motorcycle will be shipped from Las Vegas to be a part of the EyesOn Design Shelby Snake Pit. This is going to be truly special, as few people even know about the motorcycle twin to the automobile. It will be one of the first times the two have been paired up at a public event. These are only a handful of the unique and rare Shelby automobiles that will make up this special tribute to Carroll Shelby, a true American icon. Showcasing more than 220 vehicles, EyesOn Design is unique among car shows because it celebrates automotive design, not merely vehicle rarity, restoration or celebrity ownership. As a benefit for the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, a not-for-profit 501©3 corporation, EyesOn Design is a major source of revenue for the DIO's research, education and support group programs for the visually impaired.
