so, i tried the vmp pulley removal tool with fine threaded bolt from revan racing, to do a 2.59 stock look swap

but after turning the bolt with a breaker bar the only thing that happened was the aluminum cross bar bent, then cracked.

followed the directions, but i just dont get it.

has this happened to anyone?

if i cant figure it out this weekend i'll send my 2011 svtpp to a local tunning shop fro pulley swap.

They are tight.... Ive done three pulley swaps now, mine and two others.. all three using air tools, and all three came off very easy.

Seems those doing this with hand tools have the hardest time... Heating the pulley just before you make a pull attempt will greatly assist in getting it off that shaft.

I would not heat the pulley up. You possibly could damage the seal in the snout around the shaft. I too have done three pulley swaps. One with the Metco and two with the VMP. Following the thread by Grabber I had no issues thankfully. I would say that that something wasn't lined up quite right. If I recall correctly the cross bar on my kit is steel. Maybe another TS member who lives in your area has a tool and can help you out.

You will not damage the seal by heating the pulley to moderate temp in order to promote expansion. No one suggested heating the pulley to cherry red temps, that's just silly.

You have any idea what the motor and or SC case temps are when in use at the track? The seal lives just fine at those higher temps, heating the pulley to be removed to 200-300 deg which WILL cause it to expand and at in removal.

In any case, after three pulley swaps, that went quick and painless, no heating, no grunting and no damage to tools or pulley.... I'd have to say heating is not needed in most times.
