On powerblock a black gt

Hood scoop is a GT model type. Not sure what makes you think they are trying to pass it off as an SGT. Now the color is SGT but there are many blk and gold striped stangs around as well but that does not mean its a Hertz fake or trying to pass as a fake. Just my 2 cents

Greaser, You certainly aren't wrong in calling it out. Altough we all can see it's fake - my guess is if we saw him coming down the road at us or on the opposite side of a freeway we all would think we had seen a SGT and given it a thumbs up. Sad to say that re-creations or tributes will always be around, just be thankful that we have originals and the knowledge to tell the difference.

I hear you Wayne. I just thought it was in poor taste that they had it on this week but I suppose they recorded it two or more weeks ago maybe. I dont have any issue with a tribute car like legends (and I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into making one) as long as the owner represents it as such but they failed to say anything about it and i found that to be a bit shady. Again this is just my parinoid humble opinion. Ok now lets go for a ride.

No, it's GT350 on the rocker. I watched the show this weekend. They never referred it as anything other than an 05 Mustang GT. Clearly the owner is trying to replicate the SGT right down the the PBF badge but I was happy they never called it a Shelby. When they covered the details of the Mustang it really didn't have much more than stripes and wheels. A good looking Mustang, but nothing special to the masses.

As a Mustang enthusiast and non-Shelby owner...

Having a PBF badge doesn't mean it's badged up as a Shelby (I have the new-style PBF badges on my daily driver base V6). At the same time, I've had three Shelby owners so far that misidentified the car as a Shelby (one even thought it was a KR), despite the fact that it looks nothing like one (besides, nobody in their right mind would do to a Shelby what I've done to my car), nor carries the badging necessary to be identified as such.

When I told these gentlement that my car was nothing more than a V6 base coupe, they treated me like I was somehow less than them, and with one exception, none of them were even old enough to have owned or driven some of the cars I have. Of course, they were too busy being better than me to talk to me and discover these things. Things certainly aren't the same as they were back in the day, and people aren't nearly as friendly.

Let every think what they want, it's your car - ask them "and what car do you have?" I think you have a wonderful looking car and that you did a great job with it - YOU NEED TO BE PROUD OF IT!

Correct, a PBF badge alone does not imply its a Shelby. Neither do Le Man stripes. My point was the combination of parts and colors in the manner in which they are assembled dictates an effort to replicate the look of an SGT. I have no issues with tributes or clones as long as they are not presented as the real deal. That goes for any cloned Vehical.

If anyone has mistaken your excellant example of a tastefully customized Mustang as a Shelby doesn't know much about Shelbys. However, to the casual enthusiast I can completely understand the confusion. unfortunitly there are some narrow minded, bandwagon Shelby owners that associate Shelby ownership with some mythically elevated social status all because they got a loan for a $60k+ car.
