Jer
I use Optimum Power Clean. Dilute or use full-strength. Works pretty well. BTW, Simple Green is mighty good for cheap. Jer
twobjshelbys
I used Simple Green in my lawn fertilizer sprayer. Got it down without too much force but spread it out enough to then brush and rinse.
jerseygator
Simple green is a great degreaser/cleaner... But once it is clean. I use Adams Super Vinyl and Rubber Treatment and Adams In and Out spray to hit the impossible to reach area's. I drove across country to the 50th bash. Ask anyone who knows me on the forum. My engine bay is prestine. And I have 32k on the car. Here are the befores and after videos of my engine bay. Here's my engine bay before the trip. Here it is after the trip... 6,180 miles through snow, rain and sandstorms. Skip to the 1 minute mark to miss all the bug guts on the car! And then watch the next minute or so. See post below for after trip cleaning with products mentioned...
jerseygator
Here's what it looked like after using the products mentioned. Here's a link to the Adams forum with a video on how to. It's worth the time to watch. You don't need to use all Adams products. But the process is the best I've found. http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/wheels-trim-undercarriage-engine-bay-detailing/8778.htm
FordRocks1
Great vids jerseygator, thanks for the link also, I am going to give it a try. What specific areas did you cover in the engine bay? I saw the intake and battery but anything else ?
ilmor
I need to spruce mine up a little, esp the spot on the intake where a little mouse apparently camped during the winter months. I don't know how / why he did this as I did check under the hood fairly routinely and even drove the car during the winter a couple of times (on non-treated and dry roads of course). I checked the rest of the car thouroughly...no other evidence...

MMcGuirk
What prducts work to clean under the hood? Plastic parts, metal parts, any parts... S100 Total Cycle Cleaner - available at any Harley Davidson dealer. Available in aerosol or pump spray, spray on the entire engine compartment (when cool), rinse and blow dry. S100 restores metal rubber and plastic to as new condition.
shelbymotorsports
Simple Green is a great cleaner and I use it all the time BUT keep in mind that Simple Green will etch/corrode alumiumn if not diluted properly AND rinsed off right away. While I haven't tried it Simple Green apparently makes a product called something like, Simple Green Aircraft, that is "safe" for aluminum. Just washed under the Hood and really don't wanna try to shammy (spelt wrong I know) all of it lol On some Shop Vacs you can reverse the hose so it blows the vacs exhaust air out of the hose nozzle. Make sure the Shop Vac is clean with no debris in it and that it has a clean filter. Steve

Let it run and generate heat under the hood. I don't know how well that will work, never tried it.

I saw the nest he built a couple weeks ago under the intake which was made from the battery cover insulation. Guess he decided to pay the ultimate price to ride in a Shelby. Frank S
Worked good on my wife's car this last week. The fun part was while I was doing the recommended external wash while the engine dried itself, great clouds of steam started coming out from under the car. OMG, now what has happened? Turns out the garden hose had sprung a leak and was spraying on the exhaust. What a relief.
CodyWayne718
My shop vac isn't one that can blow :-(. Seems as if you just let the engine heat dry it, it would have water spots afterwards....

spclmstngs
I bought some product from a member on here called show car. This product works excellent. You check out his product at www.showcardetail.com. I personally think It is great product. I work in the automotive aftermarket field and I sell everything and this is hands down the best out there.
