msbmustang
Well I was going to put the 285 Nitto 555 Extremes back on the rears and move the 255's back to the front but I stripped out a lug nut. (Again, Ford put 50K miles on this car before I bought it in 2007, SVT#12, and they must have taken the wheels off 100's of times.) The factory nuts are very beat up and this is the third one I have stripped out the last couple of years. I bought the other two for $5 each at the local dealer but it is time to buy a new set. My question is can I buy one of the sets from American Racing ($20 for the stock acorns) or should I stick to the stock "Ford Lug Nuts"...Or are there other lug nuts of higher quality out there. Been looking online and only found the American Racing lug nut sets as an aftermarket part. Thanks, Mark / MSB Mustang PS - Car still drifting right but it is a much nicer ride with the 285 Nitto 555 Extremes on the front. New tie rods I hope next week...and after 114K miles I probably needed them anyway.
judgeman6970
dont know if they make the right size/application, but imo, mcgard makes the best aftermarket lug nuts & locks.........
54First
dont know if they make the right size/application, but imo, mcgard makes the best aftermarket lug nuts & locks......... McGard, no doubt. Part number 64010. Locks part number 24198. Available at Pep Boys or Summit Racing for sure. Probably others. One caution. The nuts are 3/4". Your factory nuts are 13/16". You'll need a new lug wrench. Steve
msbmustang
Ordered the Mcgard set yesterday and also the tie rod ends from Tousley Ford parts online as they had the best prices, I will just have to wait a week or more for everything to arrive. The lug nut set at $33 is a good price considering I paid $5 each for 2 nuts at my local dealer for the exact same Mcgard nuts. I hope the tie rod ends solve the slight drifting right problem that the alingment shops could not solve! I also need to put the 285's back on the rear as I keep breakling loose the rear 255"s! I do like the way the car feels though with the 285's in the front. I may go 285 Conti's all the way around after I wear out the #%^$$#@ Nitto Extremes. If anyone wants a set of 555 Nitto Extemems with 3k miles on them (90% freeway miles) for a great price PM me. Mark / MSB Mustang
