New Redline Hood Struts (no drill)

Recommended Posts

I just finished installing my new Redline / Tuning quickLIFT ELITE hood struts. My Steeda hood struts are 5 years old and will not hold my hood up any longer.

These newly designed Redline struts do not require any drilling and the install is very easy to do. The parts are top notch quality and the connections are right on. The hardware fits great and makes very positive connections. When the hood opens it slows down automatically during the last 4 inches so the hood does not jolt. Here is a link to the product:

Check out this video of Jay Tucker (JLT) doing a install on his car.

Here is the packaging and parts and color instructions that are very easy to follow. One strut holds the hood up, so the install is very easy.

This is a pic of my 5 year old failed Steeda struts. Never did like the back ball joint design because it pivoted if you did not get it tight enough.

I like the hardware that goes in the factory hole on the hood. The part locks into the hole and then you tighten it down.

Then put the bottom piece on the fender using the existing fender bolt and snap the strut into place.

I then removed my old shot Steeda’s and then did the other side.

Thanks for posting Grabber. Anyone know what these struts are rated at?

I assume this is the same for the Shelby GT???

Also is Shelby switching to these?

Thank you for posting Grabber

Per their site:

Determine which system is correct for your vehicle...

If you have the stock hood or aftermarket hood with two holes in the hood frame (located mid-way up the frame on either side) you should purchase our bolt-in application (PN 21-11023 or 21-11024-0X based on model year). These two systems will work with every 2005+ Mustang that has these two holes - see online manual or photos below. (Works on all Mustangs including: V6, 5.0, Shelby GT500, Boss, Laguna Seca, etc. - excludes only Shelby America Shelby Super Snake - Select this link for that model only).

Brain Fart on my end, I forgot the trunk had them, mine work fine.

Ordering the Hood ones now, thanks again for sharing.

Which ones did you order?

The Elite pistons have a 4 year warranty and the finish is stainless, the others have a 2 year warranty and the finish is Black.

I placed an order for the KR - Looking forward to the BBT (big brown truck) in a few days.

Right on. It would be cool to see some pic's of these struts mounted on your KR.

Yes that is nice and as you can see the fulcrum point is in a much better place to allow the shocks to be stronger. It also appears to put less stress on the hood.

Installed the very same ones myself a few week back, and they are very nice.

The install is quick and simple, they work great and really pop with the stainless.

I used to always be worried about having a gust of wind catch the hood with the prop rod on it, as you could end up with a nasty / costly mess.

If you are even considering doing this mod, do yourself a big favour and go for it.

Very nice pics Grabber, also noticed your GT500 white with blue stripes poster in the background, any links for a supplier for that?

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

In 2006 when Ford announced the 2007 GT500 they sent each dealership one of these vinyl banners to hang in their showroom to advertize the car. When I ordered my car I asked them if I could have it. Since they were only getting one allotment.....they said yes. These banners never went on sale to the public.

Thanks Grabber, good to know, there will not be a lot of them out there then.

It would have been nice if they included something like that with the vehicle, or at least offered them for sale.

I was like the 3rd or 4th person to order from my local dealer, and I know the dealership had some die hard ford muscle guys working in the shop.

I am sure many of them never made it outside of the dealership staff.

No regrets though, happy to have the car :)
