Stripe help

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 GT500 stripe delete in Kona Blue. After attending Shelbyfest 2012 I am interested in striping the car. I would like to have dark grey stripes that match the SVTPP wheels. I may just put the GT500 lower side stripes on and if I decide to stripe the top of the car, I am not sure about the narrow SVTPP stripes or the wider stripes. I am more partial to the wider stripes.

Please give me some needed advice.

I agree with devious....Make it yours and put whatever is going to make you happy. I think that stripes matching the wheels would look great and if you like the thick stripes go for it. The philosophy of sticking to what is "stock" just doesn't make much sense to me since a) these cars are not classics and won't be in the near future and b ) it really won't have an impact on value. I guarantee you that no matter what you do someone will love it and if you ever sell it will just have to have it.

Gun metal gray stripes on your Kona Blue will be awesome. I'm happy with black, but if I ever change my stripe color, it will be to gun metal grey. As far as stripe width goes, just do what you think looks better (I'm a fan of the wide stripes because they more closely reflects the Shelby heritage). Good luck and enjoy.

I agree-do what suits you-sets your car apart and makes it unique. Our 2012 is stripe delete and I am putting on rocker panel stripes in grey as well as hash marks and considering black matte (car is black as well) painted stripe over the top. I just need to see one before I decide. I see where one guy bought a resale and immediately removed the chrome on the taillights and quarter lights-I just put chrome on those as well as side mirrors and door handles. Have fuel door on order. Its what I like and makes it different. Each to their own. My favorite color is chrome! :)

I also added wide stripes to my Kona Blue SVTPP. I also was going to add gunmetal to match the wheels but was steered against it. It can be done but how long the stripes will last will be an issue. Most places will not warranty the stripes that have metallic in it because of rust/discoloration over time. I ended up going with a flat black on my car which has more of a grey color to it than the matte black. The issue with the flat black is that it can be easily scratched. You can search for threads with my username and find the pictures that I posted of my car with the flat black stripes.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Great advice... thinking the modded look will go a longer way to making you happy.

Love the color selection.

BTW, is there definitive "stripe thread" for aftermarket striping with advice and gotchas like Wicked_SVT?

I have the same Kona Blue on my 2011. I added ONLY the side stripes. I just couldn't see covering up that beautiful color over the top with rocker stripes.
