Jer
Hello! I'm driving from Vegas to Rancho Mirage next Monday mid-day, coming back Friday (as early as possible!!!). So far, it looks like I'll take 15 South to 247 South. Any tips or alternate routes I should know? Thanks, Jer

Jer
95 to 62 to I-10, better roads That looks interesting. Are they "better" as in "faster", better scenery, etc? This will sound silly, but my incredible fear of heights keeps me wary of certain "driver's roads" that I know a lot of people rave about, justifiably. For example, the PCH looks amazing, but I'd be white-knuckling a lot of it! Jer

Your 247 route goes thru Big Bear = snow potential.

ROSSA
Jer, The shortest mileage route from La Vegas is to continue south on I-15 to Exit 286 to Nipton, Turn left to Nipon Rd; Turn Right to Ivanpah Rd; Turn Right to Morning Star Mine Rd; To Cima; To Kelso; To Amboy; To 29 Palms; Then take Highway 62 West to I-10 East toward Indio/Palm Springs. You may wish to look at a map before taking this route, because most of the travel is on two lane roads. I take this route every February on my way to Palm Springs.
