What are my possibilities?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Shelby GT500 Kona Blue SVTPP and navigation with glass roof. I currently have approx. 26000 miles. I recently went to the drag strip in Evadale, Texas with my son, and we had a blast. I am 57 years old and he is 31 years old. I guess there's nothing like youth, because he drives much better than I do. I ran a 12.8 in the quarter mile @ 113 mph and he ran a 12.10 in the quarter mile @ 117 mph. This was done on stock oem tires. All I have had done to the car was a 2.6" metco pulley and resinator delete on the air intake side. I also had a SCT tune done on the dyno and it came out with 550 rwhp with 549 ft. lbs. of torque. I missed several shifts during these runs ( we made 24 passes at the strip) and it seems like my son was unable to powershift with the stock shifter. When I got home I ordered and have received a MGW shifter (not installed yet), and plan on getting a Magnaflow high flow catted exaust and a Magnaflow street cat back muffler system. I also plan on getting the ford racing 65 mm throttle body, and some toyo R888 tires for the rear. With these additional mods, what type rwhp can I expect? Will I be getting close to 600 rwhp? Also should my car be able to get into the 11's pretty much? I am 57 years old and am just thankful to just be alive, and appreciate whatever opinions you may have on my situation. Thanks, and God bless................

im not a gearhead here but have been a memeber of the TS forum for sevearl years, and read posts every day. You might think about tires and a bigger heat exchanger--folks seem to get good results with them. On the hp issue, ive seen numbers of 625 just with a VMP underpulley and tune--dynos have very varied numbers, with lots of factors, heat, humidity etc going into the numbers. From my drag racing days, its more about traction than pure hp--also for a winning run reaction time is VERY important--you need to get into 0.6 range conssitently---good luck

PS i was just thinking those times are very good -- 550rwhp is about 620 assuming a 20% loss in drivetrain--so your engine is right on where it should e with your mods. With more traction and a HE you shoiuld get into 11s
