StrayS
It was a nice sunny day today, so I thought I'd take my SS with a 3.6LC Kenne Bell out. It was working fine, until I left the highway. All of the sudden it felt like it falls on it's face, totally bogging down from idle to 2000rpm. Supercharger Boost went up to 10 to 12 PSI, but the car wouldn't accelerate. Once rpm went over 2000 she cleared out and took off. She still takes off like a raped monkey running over coles when turning over 4000 rpm, but feels like she is down on power. So I drove it home, let her idle opened the hood, and nothing. Closed the hood and went for another little drive and she worked half decent again, not falling on its face and boost pressure was normal again. Sounds like my catalytic converters are shot again. Maybe partitially clogged and close up when they are hot? That is like the 3rd pair in like 1000 km. Pfft. I've already got Kooks high flows there... anyway any suggestions on the cats? What have you guys done to cure that? I've just gotten my SS back from SHM in ON, Cadana, in order to get my 3.6LC Kenne Bell installed and I swear I didn't put not more than 100km on these cats. StrayS
A little update: I went out today and tried her again. Worked like a raped ape on hot coals. No power loss... nuttn. What gives?
2010KonaBlueGT
A little update: I went out today and tried her again. Worked like a raped ape on hot coals. No power loss... nuttn. What gives? I've seen chunks of Cat migrate back to a muffler and act like a gate. Sometimes it would plug the muffler, sometimes it would clear up. HARD to find on the car but I found it. Smack your mufflers and see if you hear a rattle. With two previous bad Cat's that's a good possibility. Phill

SHELBYCS6
I had the same thing happen to my 2010 a couple of years ago, only happened once, no reason what so ever and never happened again. Shut the car off, waited a few minutes, started back up working fine and never had the problem since.
2010KonaBlueGT
what causes them to deteriorate Heat. A misfire can load up a Cat (fuel not burning in combustion chamber, burns in Cat) and melt the substrate. Too rich of a AFR can/will do it. Anything that causes the cat to overheat. twobjshelbys
Did it go into limp mode with a check engine light on or was it just a power loss?

KCMO-GT500
high boost and cats just do not go good together... thank goodness i am allergic to cats.... glad I developed my allergy to cats......runs better and dropped the sc psi from 19-20 to 17-18, with a nice hp increase. Really allows for more efficient cylinder packing, which is the name of the game here. Plus I don't have to worry about clogged exhaust systems.
