stmarcink
Is it possible to switch out a normal CD Radio for a Nav unit? I'm guessing you'd need a new trim ring? Is there any changes to the wiring harness or antenna needed?
Ninjak
I looked into this as well. Kenwood is coming with a solution that will hook straight into our Sync system. According to the CES report, it was supposed to be released in March. Not sure if it out yet. Pac Also makes a harness for use with our cars. So yes you will need that harness to make it work. Kenwood has released 5 models that will work with this new module for our car. I belive the neame of the module is called Miastro or something like that. If you google Kenwood working with Sync, you should get the info
creilly333
What about changing the stock CD/Radio out for the factory NAV unit, is that possible? Colin
JeffIsHereToo
People have tried, some with various levels of success, some not at all. I would google it and you'll find TONS of stuff posted over the years on this on various sites. Some are REALLY detailed and there are vendors that claim they can do something to the unit to allow it to be easy to connect. Again reports back are of various success. I had the factory Nav but would recommend a third party unit.
Ninjak
I look more into this yesterday. I-Datalink Maestro is the unti I was speaking of. On their Facebook page, they said the unit will be ready for a June release. With this unit, 5 of Kenwwod Nav systems will be direct plug n play for the sync, and will allow steering wheel controls, and the voice commands on the Kenwood systems. Also the sirus attena's will work as well. This solution wil be the best solution for aftermarkets. No price as of yet,, but its supposed to clock in under 225. It seems Kenwood has locked up this system for the first couple of months or so, no ideal when the other brands will be able to use this IDataLink. But I do like Kenwoods systems, I had one in my 08. As for the face plate, it seems the Metra or that Sco one are still the only options there.
