ShelbyDude
My GT 500 did not come with one but I would like to order it . Has anyone done this upgrade? You can order them through any Ford parts department. They will be VERY expensive! Have also seen them selling on ebay. Evidently the Nav. cand be changed out with any system on a new ford and people have been stealing them from new cars on dealers lots and selling them on ebay. So careful on what you buy on ebay because they could be hot. They all have serial numbers and they could be tracked if you ever had service on them at a dealer. ratnacage
Expect to pay about $2500 including installation. They'll need the VIN# from a GT500 that came with NAV to program the unit with "as built" data - it's not plug and play. Your dealer should be able to look one up in their vehicle locate system. We, I mean, Lone Star Ford :D did one for jcthorne

We, I mean, Lone Star Ford :D did one for jcthorne Yes yall did. and thanks! I do really like the unit. I bought the unit from another OEM Visteon dealer and then the folks at Lone Star got it programmed to work with my particular car. It was NOT plug and play and there is still a minor issue with my car and some factory installed NAV units in Shelbys. Seems the data stream is different enough from the Mustang GT that Pioneer is having to revise the software in the NAV as it is not correctly reading vehicle speed data on some cars. I will say that some dealers have different price scales than others but do not forget some shop time in programming when you figure your cost. Grunnsetning
Is the wiring the same? I'm sure the Nav needs a few different sensors to work properly.
wildosvt
Is the wiring the same?I'm sure the Nav needs a few different sensors to work properly. Im not sure about the programing side, But other then the antenna that is mounted under the dash its plug and play. You CANNOT buy on on ebay and install it and think its going to work for you. It has to be put into fords system to make sure the item is not stolen (asigned another VIN number). That is where the "programing" comes into play. If one was to have the unit and antenna, How much would the cost be for final install?
jcthorne
Is the wiring the same?I'm sure the Nav needs a few different sensors to work properly. The wiring is plug n play, ie exact match. The antenna fits under the dash panel and plugs in to the unit. Its the programming that has to be done at a dealer. Figure at least 2 hours and perhaps 4 depending on if they can program the unit on site or need to take it back to the Visteon dealers shop and then the programming in the car to pair it up with your vin and processor. jcthorne
Curious does the stock NAVI unit have an video output for a camera? No but there is an aftermarket adaptor that can add a video input for whatever use you may have. Dont have one but have seen it on a web site. Pig
Have you considered an aftermarket unit? I just installed a Clarion system (nav, dvd, video ipod, tv tuner, sirius) for about $1600. I hooked it up through the stock wiring harness (Mach 500) and everything works & sounds great. Let me know if you have any questions. Pig
Jolly Roger
My GT 500 did not come with one but I would like to order it . Has anyone done this upgrade? In order to install the navigation system, you first must install the breast pump option, which is Part # ROYGBIV.....

MAJOR theft target and IMO none of them look like they belong, they look hacked in at best. Just my opinion. It was worth the couple hundred extra to have the OEM touchscreen rather than aftermarket. They can be had for far less than $1900. New OEM.
