speedometer recalculation

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I just put some Ford Racing 4:10 gears in my 07 SGT. :yahoo: Can some tell me how to recalcuate the speedometer. As it sits right now it is reading about 10-12mph faster. Thanks in advance.

Need to get your hands on an aftermarket tuner (SCT, Diablo, etc) in order to make the change... Otherwise, take it to the dealer...

EDIT = I had the 4:10's installed last fall and used my own SCT Tuner to make the change... You don't actually have to buy your own tuner, just find one to borrow for 5 mins... Not actually uploading a tune to the PCM, so any FORD specific tuner should work for the ratio change...

The SCT ones allow adjustment by + or - five wheel revolutions per mile; the Ford Racing ProCal allows + or - one wrpm. Five is usually close enough.

When the good-guy dealer tried to adjust mine after the 3.31 to 3.73 change, he discovered it wasn't allowed if the new ratio hadn't been an option on the model car in question. So don't be disappointed if the dealer is useless.

EDIT: How could I misspell "3.31"? Idjit.

I have a SCT tuner with custom tunes and after I switched to 410's I was able to select the new gear ratio from within the parameters on the tuner. Not sure if this function works without having custom tunes loaded.

Hey Guys,

Thanks. I ended up calling Ford Racing and had to fill out and then submit an application for a ProCal tuner. Great customer service! I spoke with Ray after submitting my application and gave him my credit card number. The charge was $250 and once returned they credit your charge card $100. They sent the tuner next day air and it took all of 5 minutes to install the tune. This was the way to go! Thanks Ford Racing!
