CANADA GUY
Just received my Roush uca and will install to reduce wheel hop.Thought I would measure this first before adding lca's.Does anyone have the uca only and IF SO ; is this enough to reduce wheel hop or are the lowers required as well.My car is not lowered. I realize there are many threads on this but not on uca only. Thanks!!
Light66
Yes. I have another vendor's non-adjustible UCA and maintained my stock LCA. I can spin the rears all day long without any hop. Go for it.
monsta
Since your going to be under the car anyways, you should install a 3rd link bracket as well. I used the one from UPR products. Once you see both side by side, you'll be glad you bought the bracket too. Lowering the tank alittle to get new bracket in is no big deal, and we did it laying on the garage floor......COLD garage floor.
Boidster
Stupid question - it's my understanding that wheel hop is caused by the LCA being somwhat downward sloping and so during acceleration the LCA is pushing down on the body, causing Newton to push up on the rear axle which reduces tire adhesion. Tire pushes, tire gets pushed upward, tire slips, tire drops, tire pushes again...rinse, repeat, hop hop hop. Further, I understand that this is a common problem with lowered cars, since the LCA body attachment point is now lower than stock, relative to the axle. Hence the need for LCA brackets and whatnot. OK, assuming that is mostly correct, do GT500's in stock form have problems with wheel hop? Canada Guy says his car is not lowered, yet he's looking at installing a UCA to reduce wheel hop. So is it the case that the UCA comes from the factory at a slight downward angle? What about the LCAs (which I understand to be the prime contributor to hop)? And to really get into my personal area of interest, what about 2012 SVTPPs, say, in Performance White? Should I be looking at some rear suspension mods to correct a factory defect? Or as long as I don't lower the car am I probably OK? I assume I can't just put a carpenter's level on the LCA to check it... Mods like this would be a long way off for me, probably, but I'm always up for learning something new.
S8MS-01904
Good discussion as I too believe that an adjustable UCA could be installed without the extra fancy LCA's. But me being "new" to the S197 platform, I will research a bit more.
Firekiller
I had a slight wheel hop with my 2010 when I purchased it. I bought a adjustable UCA and put it on and wheel hop went away. But about six months later I started getting a loud bang from under the rear seat upon acclerating (normal driving) and when I would shift and let out clutch. Turned out to be the UCA mount bracket. So I would recommend that while your under there replace bracket as well.
