Tanabanana
Grabber bought me a set of Valve Stem Caps with the Cobra Logo on them for one of my valentine’s gifts. Flowers, chocolates, card and Cobra Valve stem caps is all a girl really needs for Valentine’s Day. This is my first install thread on my first mod that I personally installed on my car. I asked Grabber to install them last week but he has been too busy working on my butt, so I installed them myself today. In case any of you are interested in a set of these Valve stem caps you can get them for $15.99 from American Muscle. Here is the link to purchase them: http://www.americanmuscle.com/valve-stemcap-cobra.html Custom Touch. Cobra valve stem caps are the icing on the cake. A set of custom valve stem caps really help to set off your ride for a great show winning look. Quality Construction. Each Cobra Valve Cap features high quality construction built to OEM exterior standards and is fitted with an O-ring to ensure an airtight seal. Application. These caps fit all standard valve stems (Schrader Valve) so you can use them on your Mustang, on your tow vehicle, or even your bike! Time to get onto the installation procedures. The directions say that this mod will take you about 15 minutes to install, but I want to tell you that I did it in less than 10.
Tanabanana
Time to get onto the installation procedures. The directions say that this mod will take you about 15 minutes to install, but I want to tell you that I did it in less than 10. Here are the installation steps: 1. Remove your factory OEM Valve stem caps and set them aside. Do not let your dog eat them. 2. Take your finger nail and carefully open the package by removing the tape that seals it. Be careful not to snag your nail. 3. Carefully inspect the inside of the valve stem cap to make sure the Buna O-Ring is in the proper position for an air tight seal. If you look close you can see that the Buna O-ring is seated correctly. You will also notice I got my finger dirty somehow. 4. I started on the front driver’s side tire and installed my first cap. It is important to make sure you do not cross thread the cap and mess up the threads. As the cap gets tight immediately stop so you do not over torque the cap. DO NOT USE A CRESANT WRENCH! Finger tight is all that is needed. 5. Then follow the same procedure on the drives side rear tire. Remember to not let the dog eat the OEM caps! 6. Then move to the passenger side front tire and install your next cap. Keep track of the dog as you move around the car. 7. Now you are almost done. Install your last cap on the rear passenger side tire. Do not over torque these caps with your fingers. 8. Last but not least, put the OEM caps into the little storage box that your new caps came in. Label the box and put them with all your other OEM parts so some day the car can be returned to stock and be worth 180K. I hope you enjoyed my first install thread. Everything I learned about install threads I learned from Grabber. Stay tuned for my next Mod install in GrabberVille USA. PS. These caps were hand assembled in the USA. stewarbc
Awesome. Absolutely awesome. Love the mod. Love the picts. Love your shirt too! Rob, great photos. And, as usual, great install thread. I have the Pony caps on my Black SGT. Tana, I'll tell you a secret. Here's another easy modification that you would REALLY love. Put these on your Birthday/XMAS/Mother's day wish list. Check out these awesome mods for under the hood. And, of course, you would want the ones with RED in them. http://www.shelbystore.com/product-p/z30-s7m-6766-c.htm Don't tell Rob I told you. Helix
This is the most detailed valve stem cap guide ever. By the way, referring to the "made in america" thing at the end; I recently looked at my two keys. One has a Shelby GT500 SS keychain, the other has simply a Mustang keychain. I looked on the backs: The Cobra had "China" on the back. The Mustang had "Made in USA" Dumb, I know, but I sure was a little disappointed. I find this thread hilarious I hope people will see the humor behind the "install'. I'm absolutely clueless about mechanic's and I don't like getting my hands greasy. This "Mod" was totally my speed. :beerchug:

texray
You are right. Keep an eye on that dog. I was so intent on following your proper tightening instructions that I lost track of my dog. Now I am at the last wheel and I am one cap short. Guess I need to follow that little rascal around for a day or two cleaning up after him. Dang it. Oh, just FYI, I started on the right rear of the car and everything seemed to work OK. Hopefully, I didn't screw anything up. Thanks for the great write-up!! Now, where is that damn dog................

Hope the pup will be okay-As I knew people would need to pay close attention to my detailed instructions, I had factored in the instructions about watching your pit pup for those who have them. I have faith all will come out well in the end.
