Ford Fest
We've all seen Grabber's thread on the proper way to jack or lift a GT500 and as with all of Rob's threads, very well done. I don't think this will work on a 40th due to the carbon fiber rocker panels or the rear brake cooling ducts. I would like to lift the car enough to be able to pull off the tires so I can clean the inner and outer of the wheels along with the inner fenders. Any ideas? Slabo
Bob I do this all the time using the designated pinch weld jack points under the rockers. I use both a scissor type jack or a small hydraulic jack. You do have to be careful how to place the jack so you don't damage the rockers. I use a small rectangular piece of 3/4" plywood between the jack and the pinch weld as a spacer so the jack does not contact the rocker panel. Are you using a scissor jack with a small dent or one that is flush on top? If possible could you take a pic next time? I think I could on the front with a cut out, but can't figure out the back. I'm not following you on the 3/4" plywood. Sorry.
08KR525
I would like to see a picture of this too, as the pinch weld looks to be flush with then rocker. I don't see how to lift it without contacting the rocker trim. Edited February 19, 2012 by 08KR525
Slabo
Yeah a pic would make it easier to explain. I will see if I can get out to the shop tomorrow and take a photo.
Slabo
Here is a photo of how I jack up the car. I did notice that my CF rockers are not really in the way of the jack point with anything that is flat.
Ford Fest
Thanks for posting the pic. I'll give it a try this weekend.
Torch40
Get yourself a floorjack from Harbor Freight. $90. Makes it so much easier and safer than scissor jacks. While your at it get a couple short jack stands http://www.harborfreight.com/rapid-pump-15-ton-compact-aluminum-racing-jack-68053-html-7814.html

I think that is what is causing most of my issues, when trying to find a good lifting point. Trying to get around the rockers and the ducts, kinda sucks. But they look pretty cool. I'll visit the local Harbor Freight.

Ford Fest
This is what I made to lift mine. Works great. Okay, more details. How did you make it? What is the orange piece and how do I get one? How does it work lifting the rear trying to navigate around the rocker and brake cooling ducts? 07REDGT500
It is made from aluminum bar stock and powder coated. Not sure about the brake ducts. I will take a look tomorrow. I took my rear ducts off because I run the stock wheels when I go to the track and they don't fit with the stock wheels. If you what one I am sure we could work something out. Glad you're driving to the Bash, otherwise you may need to check an additional bag on the plane with all of the "insert a name for your invention" everyone is asking for. Since I started this please put me down for one. I won't be making it to the Bash so I'll need to give you extra for shipping.
