H08KEM
So I moved into a new house a couple months ago and I sometimes drive my Shelby on the weekends. Turns out we have a mice problem. I took it in today and they will be replacing wires, insulation and tubing. My question is; Will this ridiculously affect my resale/collectibility if it gets restored back to new?
07shelbygt109
I wouldn't think so if factory parts are used. There should not be any real difference between the replacement parts and the factory originals.
Boidster
Do a search for dead mice and mice poop. They have a nasty habit of taking up residence in air ducts and body panels, then dying in there and stinking up the car. Or having a bazillion babies that then die in the car after you trap mom & dad. And buy a cat. Or possibly a real cobra.
oldlugs
Something a friend in North Dakota swears by, is placing "Bounce" brand fabric sheets inside and around the car... Supposedly works as a deterrent to both rodents and bugs. Can't hurt to try it.

No; I don't see any way this will effect resale / collectibility so long as its all factory stuff.
joebob948
I use bounce fabric softener sheets along with Irish Spring soap under the hood while I have her covered during the winter. I also use those items in the car's interior to keep the vermin out + gives it a great smell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boidster
I wonder if car show judges consider under-hood smell when grading cars? "Last year I switched from Zest to Irish Spring and I took two firsts!"

GT350conv
Mice will usually reside within a 50 foot radius of their food source. Remove the food source and they should relocate. Secondly, if you take a large plastic or metal tub with steep sides (2'x2' min) and fill with bird seed, crackers ect. then create an access ramp or steps to the top of the tub, they will jump in but won't be able to get out. I had found this out accidently in our old residence. We had stored bird seed in the basement, within a few months there had to be 15 mice that I had seen, maybe more. Relocated the bird seed to a plastic sealed bin and trapped the remaining mice, problem solved.
William Rodgers
Sorry to hear that, I just set 3 traps in my garage last night after I read this just in case, nothing this morning so I am good. In my last house I kept them set all the time, a little dab of Peanut Butter gets them every time.

H08KEM
Thank you everyone for the replies! I tried te mothball and trap route. No dice. Pest control company has begun their war against the mice. Good news is geico covers it under comprehensive coverage so I'm only going to be out my deductible and not the 8-10 grand it will cost to fix
William Rodgers
Traps did not work???? Did you put a dab of Peanut Butter on them, you tried the old school traps right? I have never seen these not work.

MY500SS
I've placed those electronic rodent deterrent devices under the stored car. Seems to work as no sign of any problems.
2010KonaBlueGT
Traps did not work???? Did you put a dab of Peanut Butter on them, you tried the old school traps right? I have never seen these not work. I started seeing signs of mice in my garage last summer. No damage to my cars or bikes but mouse poop and pee all over my shelves and foundation rib. I have 4 traps and I set one along each wall with Peanut Butter as bait. I got 13 mice before I was done! We live on a lot that backs up to a 24 acre "future park" so it's all open space behind our house and the Hawks/Foxes do a pretty good job of keeping snakes and rodents at bay...unless they are in my garage. In which case, my traps baited with Peanut Butter cull the herd. I had one mouse that was SMART. He could lick the Peanut Butter off of a trap and not set it off. A small chunk of cooked Chicken meat did the trick. He had to chew on it to get any and it got him/her. Mice run along the edges of walls so put your traps around the eges, not on a shelf or some other place like that. Get 'em on their entry/exit trail, you have a better chance of one finding your trap. Phill
joebob948
I used to get tons of field mice and moles in my garage before I got my Shelby. I used to leave my garage doors open regularly since I live out in the country. But once I got the "baby" I completely redid the garage--Drywalled it all around, sealed the cracks in the block, spackled the new drywall, set numerous traps and I can't find one of those critters.By the way, told my wife to shut the garage doors after entering. Once you eliminate the food, nesting areas, cracks to penetrate for the winter, you will eliminate their resising in your garage. Still put the traps out and the bounce sheets, though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cobra2564
I use sticky traps. They catch bugs, spiders and mice, too. I buy them off eBay in bulk, otherwise you cant afford them.
Ecrissman
Nope they don `t work, nor does moth balls, trust me. Moth balls, don't work we have a summer camp and I bought the mother load of moth balls. Put them in red solo cups then filled them up :beerchug: . I put them everywhere as well as some of those mouse poison green pellet bait trays. They ate the bait like they were at a buffet and used the moth balls as part of their nest. Glure trap or the good old stand buy those victory snap traps and peanut butter.
