Shelby Focus?

It's not a Mustang but you may have something. A little birdie pointed out two undercover Focuses running around the Proving Grounds at Dearborn 2011. Said "You Shelby enthusiast may want to take a close look at those".

Shelby Fusion!

Shelby Focus?

Guys, it's from Mustang daily.com and the headline says NEW SHELBY MUSTANG. I don't know where you guys are getting Shelby Focuses and Fusions from, but I assume they will do that later on in 2012. But then again, you may be right because they said in the article "new Shelby vehicle." We will just have to wait and see in a month.

If it's an economy car, let's hope it is either a Shelby Focus or Fusion, both modified ecoboosts and manual transmission. I will not be forced to using just an automatic.

Also when Luft took office, everyone was worried about bean counters and them making a Shelby Focus and now everyone seems interested.

Something's fishy around here and I also smell irony.

Sherlock Holmes is on the case!

If Shelby/Luft is smart, they will EMBRACE the "Ricer Market".

The "Muscle Car" market is a dying breed (with more stringent emission standards from EPA in the pipe) and if they (SA/SAI) don't change, they will die right along with it.

Don't resist change, it will happen without you!

John is a very smart man, rest assured. So far, the muscle car markey has not wained, despite a tanked economy. Depending what happenes with elections, that could change. Im not sure whats comming but, the Focus ST would be hard to beat. I have not heard of any performance verson of the Fusion, despite being the poster child for NASCAR

Think that for 2017 for the Super Snake and 2015 for the GT350. It would be too early for both of those.

Special editions to honor the 50th anniversary of Shelby American - golden anniversary you know - so think unique colors........

If that's the case, do you think it there is the possiblity of a mystichrome Super Snake or different color stripes like gold, silver, yellow, red, etc. Maybe a mystichrome stripe too.

Phil... With all due respect... How can you justify this statement with the resurgance of the Camaro, Challenger and the Mustang? The demographic of buyers ranges from young to old. :headscratch:

+1

This may be old news, but this Focus ST-R is pretty dayum hot. I wouldn't mind seeing SAI getting involved with this vehicle.

Phi... Wouldn't this be a way for Ford/SAI to address the "ricers"?

Or maybe the Fiesta too... I'd take this Fiesta over any Honda, Subaru, or any other "Ricer"!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinkin' too.

And Shelby himself already said they'll be involved with the rice racer fad in a TV interview.

What better way to do it, with Ford Motor Company AND Rice Rockets (or whatever they're called now)? You (Ford and Shelby fans) can have your cake and eat it too.

Have you heard about the ever increasingly stringent EPA standards?

I believe it's 2015 when they get MORE stringent...Might be 2014 but regardless, they are tightening up emission standards for future cars so the days of big motors and big horsepower engines is DYING.

And that's not just my opinion, that's plain hard facts.

That's what they said in 1971. And here we are 40 years later, with the current musclecars being light-years better than the previous generation. With technology and buyers on its side, the musclecars will continue. Now that is fact.

I would tend to agree with that comment. I think the horsepower figures may go down some, but not much, in the coming years, but the cars will be lighter which should keep the performance numbers relatively stable; nothing like the big drop of the early 70s. In those days, the problem was that they had to deal with both emission and fuel economy issue without the benefit of modern tecnnologies. Nowadays, direct injection and turbocharging enable significant power with smaller displacement engines. Adding direct injection and twin turbos to the current 5.0 V8 could certainly yield over 500hp, with lots of low end torque if Ford decides to do so. Ford could certainly adapt its Ecoboost formula to its V8. Couple that with some weight reduction and the next gen Mustang could deliver decent fuel economy while keeping the performance level roughly the same.
