Grabber Posted December 19, 2011 Report Share Posted December 19, 2011 Can anyone give me the paint code for the vinyl Red stripes on my wife's 2009 White with Red stripe GT500. It seems that Ford has a few different vinyl shades out there for the red stripe edition cars. I have been hoping for some help from mrfarmdog the last few months, but he has been unable to respond. Grabber Posted December 19, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 19, 2011 When I was in Dearborn a few months ago I met Mrfarmdog. He told me that there are 2 colors used on the red stripe cars. I bought some vendor stripes from him while I was there. They did not match. I am trying to find out the other color. Hendrix from bangastang sent me photos of fords different shades of red that they have been using for the red stripe cars. Has anyone else had this problem ? Clearcoat Posted December 19, 2011 Report Share Posted December 19, 2011 We've painted about 6 or 7 Radiator Covers for the red stripe edition GT500 and from experience we've seen 4 different shades of red vinyl. Some red stripes have a salmon red color, others are orangish red and others an actual red. It seems that Ford may have changed there supplier. It is certain that the color is not Torch Red D3. One color that we've used in the past is "Red Baron" a Dupont paint code of PFR400S9. What we now do for the Red Stripe edition cars is to have the owner visit there local auto paint supply store and find a paint swatch that matches their vinyl and send us the sample so we can do have the paint matched to their vinyl. In our experience only the red vinyl is an issue. We've done almost 300 Radiator Covers for the '07-'09 and the red vinyl is the only one which we've had an issue. On the 2010 GT500 the satin black stripes have been a problem because the vinyl stripes that we purchased from Ford have a metallic lines in the vinyl which we can't replicate in paint. All of the stripes on our Radiator Covers are done in paint including the Super Snake, we use a matte black paint for those. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The insurance is on fire and theft so we can not drive it down to the local paint store. Not sure how I will come up with a match. Then I can compare them in my garage and determine which one it is and place the order. I thought it was cool that Hendrix went out of his way to contact me and offer to help after he saw this post.
