TVS to a Ken Bell

BAD SNAKE

Recommended Posts

Has anybody swapped their TVS to a Ken Bell 2.8 supercharger? I have modded my car as far as I want but I sure like the looks of the KB under the hood.

For those those who have done the swap are you satisfied or disappointed?

I don't want a full race car just a nice drivable Shelby.

Thanks for any input.

Hello I never had a TVS but I had a 2,8 Kenne Bell and I will say that I loved that blower.I like the looks of the Kenne Bells also.I had no issues with my 2.8 plus the blower whine was intense the only reason why I am not running it anymore is because I stepped up to a 3.6LC.

Nothing against the KB, it's just the issues I've had with things I've had to do to accomodate it. The TVS went on in a flash and I never had to do anything else with it. The KB was more of a pain to install but nothing too bad. Had to notch the hood to clear the supercharger and still had problems with the pulley hitting the hood during hard cornering in autocross. Bought new mounts to lower the engine and have had problems with them loosening up and I don't really like the vibration increase from them. Aside from that it just seemed like the TVS got into boost a lot quicker, which i liked. And now with the #'s the TVS VMP kit is putting out, doesn't seem like there is much of a horsepower/torque advantage to the 2.8 when running a street tune.

Thanks for the reply Arky51. That's enough information for me to keep my TVS.

for a street car, the tvs setup can be comparable to a kb 2.8 or whipple 2.9. most likely sales of aftermarket blowers will decrease for people who own the 2013-2014 gt500...simply mod your factory tvs and save money. HOWEVER...if someone wanted a nice boost hp for the drag strip or road course, then you can't beat the upside and efficiency of the kb / whipples. ALSO, if you want more hp for the street (running 91-93 octane), there is always the kb 3.6, 4.2 or whipple 3.4, 4.0. of course, these big blowers would be great for off road use, but you could easily get 750whp or more with a 3.4 wh or 3.6 kb. i'm waiting for some adventurous soul to strap on a 4.2 kb just to see what kind of rwhp they can safely get on 93 octane...800rwhp??!!...probably. just thoughts. your tvs will be great on the street. a friend of mine has a tvs on his 08' gt500 and he runs right with me!
