SRE111
Hey, So I wanna order headers and cat back, and was thinking between the Kooks headers and ARH.. anyone that has experience with them please let me know which one is best, and which one is LOUDER? I was also thinking of a Corsa Catback with whichever headers I go with. Last but not least, I would like to know the difference between the 1 7/8" and 1/3/4". I know it has to do with back pressure, but for now my engine is stock but later down the road who knows.. Please let me know as I am eager to order the headers and exhaust asap. THANKS !! Madlock
Hey... So if you're not going to leave your engine stock - for long... you might as well go larger, as you'll probably do so anyway at some point. As far as which is LOUDER... If you're after pissing-off the neighbors, why not splice-in a set of BOSS 302 removable baffles and dump-out the sound even before it gets anywhere NEAR a muffler? Personally, I'd love to be able to hijack the hands-free Bluetooth of nearby cars and just dump my engine note through everybody's speakers within 300 feet. MichaelP
I checked into headers for increase in HP but we did not feel the gain would suffice the work to install.. What is the purpose of the headers? different sound or increase in HP? If you are looking for more noise do the splice like Madlock mentions.. my muffler fell off at the seam at last road race event and man it sounded GREAT!!! other than the loose half drag gin' on the ground... 1 Alibi 2
Just installed headers, before the purchase, I asked people who should know...... ( 2011 GT500 with hp upgrades ) . SVT told me 1 3/4"......for the reason you already stated.....the motor needs some back pressure for low end torque. My tuner, JDM, said the same thing. Kooks, told me both 1 7/8 & 1 3/4 cost the same......go with the 1 3/4".....low end grunt. Am running the headers / catted X pipe to the stock mufflers, as noise is not my goal........................................( have not been back on the dyno since the install ) I'm running Kooks, a lot of people use ARH, both make a good product. . ......................If you are looking for loud, might I recommend Roush Extreme Axle back !!! . frydguy79
i say take that money and invest in mods that will benefit you or your car headers are not worth the hassle unless your going BIG HP ,, 800+ other wise its just a waste
KevinWitten
Another option for LOUD is the muffler delete. http://www.lethalperformance.com/2011-shelby-gt500-exhaust-axle-backs-magnaflow-c-8485_8846_10314_10315/magnaflow-2011-mustang-5-0l-axle-back-muffler-delete-p-34841

jsarkis
Alex I heard they run lower than any other part on the car? Do you scrape your Dynatech's going over speed bumps etc? Or is there a trick to tuck them up underneath? Thanks for the help.
vapor08GT500
I have not scraped mine, but you do need to be careful over speed bumps. Some of my customers have scraped the cats... Alex
wanted2b
Personally, I would choose ARH. I think the quality is better.
vapor08GT500
Personally, I would choose ARH. I think the quality is better. I have installed over 100 sets of headers on these cars (all brands), the Dynatech hands down are the best fitting, best quality, and easiest to get the trans out on these cars when the clutch goes out.
