Idlechater
Hello Forum: Just purchased a 2012 Race Red Stripe Delete SVTPP Nav edition... Promised the wife I would not turn it into a promise, but I'm a confessed liar and just cannot help myself!!!!! The first thing that I need to fix is the 4x4 ride height of this car... The car is going to be 95% driven so I am not looking to stiffen the ride at all if possible. I just want to drop the front and rear at least 1.5"... I know that Ford, Steeda, H&R, and Eibach all make kits, but I obviously don't have the resources to try each one until I find just what I want... In general from what I have read, they all lower the car about the same, with the exception of the Eibach Sportlines which seem to drop the car an additional 1/4"... How about ride... Do any of these kits provide basically the same ride as factory? Are there other kits that I have not mentioned that I should be considering to achieve my ride height/ride quality goals... Any advice will certainly be appreciated....
Madlock
Anything that will drop the car below the SVTPP ride height is likely to be stiffer too. It'll need to be. I'd recommend the FR-3 Handling Pack, as it's an integrated solution that provides adjustable dampers, sway bar and caster/camber adjustments to make the entire proposition work without introducing other problems downstream. IA Shelby
I have Steeda setup with Tokico D-specs that are adjustable. They have multiple settings for firmness (1 - go kart, 10 grand marquis). Just kidding on the Marquis. I have mine set at the mid point and I think it rides similar to stock with handling improved 3x. You can adjust the settings in 2min. Highly recommended. CMG
I done the Ford Racing Parts springs and BMR panhard to center up rear end. Thats it. I have put 4500 miles on it and I love it. Im sure the whole kit would be better but I found the springs for 125.00 and thought what the heck I'll add struts later. Havnt seen the need.. Madlock
The Ford racing parts are the best. +1. Not that aftermarket makers can't and don't make quality products, but Ford Racing has "square one" access to ensuring its parts perform as integrally as possible. While they're not ALWAYS likely to push the envelope the farthest, they're invariably robust and perform exceptionally well. Personally, I've also always found brand consistency to be appealing. I agree. Ford parts seem to always be best. I put a RED BMR panhard bar under it and checked the alignment. It was off a little so I had it adjusted. I put about 3-4K a year on the car showing it so I did not op for the $$$$ for the full handling kit. Anytime you lower a car your ride will suffer a bit. It is worth it to me to get rid of the 4X4 look. Rudy

Madlock
No input on lowering... But welcome to TeamShelby!!! :happy feet: Glad to see you (seem to) have power. We're not expected back up 'til Wednesday. Living on a 3000W generator 4 tanks of LPG I bought for Irene. No internet, so I've got what access I could cobble together over tethered 3G. I have a set of 302 LS wheels arriving today which I hope will look good with its red that matches the 2011/12 SVTPP stripe. WRT FRPP, The flip-side is how obtuse they can be. For example the new Adjustable FR-3 Pack is backordered until January because the new adjustable dampers are on short supply. Ironically, I had bought a set of JUST the (new) dampers a few months ago, so I wanted to add the springs, sway bar, caster/camber,, and bump stops to create my own FR-3 Pack out of the components that comprise it, but Ford Racing won't warranty it like they would an actual FR-3 pack. They were careful to mention how it wouldn't include essential fasteners a "bona fide" FR-3 pack requires - and JUST as careful to mention that they won't tell me what additional fasteners might be required. I'm thinking they're just the one-time use parts a good FR shop would know to replace anyway - but, then again, shouldn't those come with each part anyway? It's that kind of asininity that leads people to resent making their $60K purchase over a $5 bolt. Even so, they're the best choice out there, so it's all about sucking it up, I s'pose. Madlock
Unless I'm mistaken, they're the Lowering Springs from the FR-3 Adjustable Handling Pack - FRPP Part M-5300-L.
