blankstare
I have been reading about the low-speed "moaning" from 2011 GT500's and the overall solution to the problem seems to be adding friction modifier to the rear differential. Can someone tell me how to do this? Pictures are even better if possible. Thank you very much.
MTB65
It comes in a small bottle purchased at the ford dealer. It needs to be added through the access plug for differential fluid in the rear axle assembly. You put the whole bottle in...you will have to jack the car up to do it. If you jack up the side with the plug on it the axle will be at angle and you won't loose any fluid out when you unscrew the access plug. Slabo
If you are adding this to your existing fluid I would not add the whole bottle. A full bottle (4 oz) should have been added when the diff was last filled. Adding to much will cause your limited slip clutches to slip to much and you can loose your limited slip. I would add 1 oz and see how it goes. Maybe add 1 more if needed.
ChrisSD
I agree - I used 2oz.

mullens
Another tip..the access hole is hard to get to. I used the tube from a bottle of Slime and put it on top of the FM bottle. One more thing..the stuff is NASTY. I got a few drops on my shirt and had to throw the shirt away. Be careful handling it.
shel-b001
After you add the modifier go to an open parking lot & do a few fiqure 8`s , this will work the fluid into the clutch packs.

jsdeweyusmc
@jsdeweyusmc Finally got my Shelby into the dealership for the moaning sound. They came out with a letter stating that the sound is normal for our vehicles and nothing was going to be done about it. I convince them to add some fiction modifer in it or show me where I could put it in myself. They went ahead and put in approx. 4 oz which 1 to 2 oz leaked out before he put some in. There was alittle noise when I left the dealership but not as loud as it was. Hopefully with time the noise will go away completely and then I'll let the dealership know that the noise is gone. Try doing some figure eights in a parking lot & see if that helps. The idea is to work the fluid into the clutch packs.
BlwnSn8k
I replaced the stock rear diff oil with AMSOIL 75W-140 Gear Oil and added the 4 oz bottle of friction modifier just to be sure. After a few minutes on the road taking a few turns, no more noise out of the rear end. Of topic, but I also replaced the trans fluid with AMSOIL ATF and it made a noticeable difference in the notchy-ness of the shift. It is still notchy, but it falls into gear more smoothly.
