Vegas 50th Event - Car Transport

Ladies and Gents,

Time to get thinking about and scheduling transport for our cars to be in Vegas for the 50th Celebration from 3/14 to 3/17/12.

I have some quotes but the price is high. $3300-$3500 per car round trip if we fill a hauler (6 cars) from the PA/NJ/NYC area.

I have been approached by Terry and Andy and others about getting our cars out west so getting 3 more cars should not be too difficult.

I have spoken to John Keller about the possibility of all 6 cars being delivered to his secure warehouse in Lansdale, Pa to all be loaded in the hauler from one location (under his direct supervision) and the all the cars can be unloaded at SA under the supervision of a TBD SA staffer. If we can get all 6 cars to be picked up at one spot, delivered to one spot, reloaded in one spot and redelivered back east in one spot, I am sure I can negotiate a better price - like 3k each.

I'm sure I could beat up a rental much cheaper but I know I need a properly setup (safety and track prepped) car to really enjoy my time on the track trying not to get lapped by Gary. :worship:

If you are seriously interested, please send me a PM and I will keep you posted on when deposits are due and all the details.

See you in Vegas!!!

Tony

Thanks Matt but I need to get the cars back to Pa also. Those quotes I believe are one way only.

Will do. Thanks.

References:

My Shelby GTs were delivered by Reliable as part of the direct delivery option (deliver to home instead of dealer, thus avoiding a second unload/load onto a different carrier). Reliable also delivered Ford GTs (all GTs were delivered from Ford to the dealers in covered vans, sometimes as the only vehicle on the truck.)

My Cobra was delivered from Barrett Jackson to here on Intercity and I've used them to ship my Cobra to Roush in Detroit. My new Ford GT will be delivered from Detroit to home on Intercity.

I see both Intercity and Reliable vans staged at the BJ auctions in Scottsdale and Vegas so there are lots of people that trust them with high quality stock.

Thanks Tony. Much appreciated. I emailed both companies.

Also check Intercity and Reliable. They both do the auctions so have familiarity with runs that involve a full load to a destination, followed by driver down time for the event, followed by full loads out...

Yea Reliable is also good, saw alot of their trucks also parked at the AACA Hershey Show couple of weeks ago

Back car out of driveway. Put car in first gear and push right foot down. I will be transported to Vegas in 7 hours or so. Repeat process to return home. :poke:

Sorry Tony, couldn’t resist. Looking forward to meeting you in Vegas.

7 hours is pretty fast for 3000 miles. Yippee!

Tony, Its great that you're taking the time to put something together and I may be wrong here but that price seems a little high in this economy. A fully loaded truck with a lay over in Vegas should be every carriers dream. I would think they would be trying to undercut the competition so that they get the job.

When getting estimates I would not use the word Shelby and I would not talk about a bash or that you're heading to any type of event. Saying that you have six Shelby's, that you need transported to Las Vegas for the Shelby Vegas Bash, makes it sound like money is no problem and I would suspect the estimate will be as high as they think they can get out of you.

Just my two and the best of luck with this.

Steve

thanks steve and david. i did just speak with passport and they assured me they could haul the cars there and back assuming the deisel prices remain the same in march as they are now for $2642/car. the downside is they will not issue seperate invoices so one guy (me) would have to pay the bill and then collect from each guy. as i am italian (and half sicilian) i'm sure none of y'all would stiff me. :rant2:

i'll keep everyone in the loop.

Here is some info that might help from Gary Patterson. If you use 6 or more people that would help as they might get a full truck rate. Reliable would be good and they could call Harold Silverman at 734-775-0241 or Ken at Grand Turismo at 704-905-0999.

Hope this helps we want to see as many of your Shelby's at the 50th as possible!!! You will want to have your car this year!!!

Tony I know Ron has sent you a message but we are interested. I had a question-is it to Gardena or Vegas? I was unsure if Shelby was doing the run from Cali again and if yes, are we starting there?

Price quoted was from hatfield, pa to Vegas and back to hatfield, pa. Please have Ron contact me directly if you guys are interested. My email is tony356@comcast.net

Currently we have a lot of tire kickers but I think 3 definates for this transport. If we cannot fill the truck I'm sure the price is going to change. We need to book by the end of the year so we have a little time. Keep me posted.

Ron and I tried to arrange transport for the Mustang 45th in Birmingham. we ended up getting screwed when everyone backed out. So be sure you get deposits! But yes we are very interested and I just emailed you.

Thanks for the insight. At this point we have 3 folks that I would say are definite and I was contacted yesterday by someone interested about this hauler. We will handle all payments after we find out who is in and really wants to go. No money is due now but will be needed by say February 1st.

Just an FYI:

To drive your car out will run about $1000 in fuel plus tolls, plus hotels, plus meals, etc. In addition to the extra 6-8 days one would need to take off of work the total charge to drive out and back will quickly approach $2000. While it is cheaper to drive, hauling the car and flying out will run around $3200 if we can fill the hauler so it is not as obscene as it initially might look.

Anyone with interest can email me directly at tony356@comcast.net
