raptor55
What should I get, I could get a used zr1 for about the same price as a new supersnake and from what i have been reading the zr1 is faster, also it is alot lighter. Though I do love supersnake's I think the better buy might be a zr1 what do you guys think.

Max Cruise
If you're a Shelby fanboy, you will go for the Supersnake ultimately, regardless of what the members here will recommend. But if you're one of those "meh...just another car...." guys, there's no point in asking the question.Either ways, its your choice. Some might say ZR1 is better, others will defend Shelby. But at the end of the day, what matters is which car pleases and satisfy your needs. And its completely upto you to decide. Others can guide you about performance, but falling in love with your ride is a totally different thing. Its an unexplainable feeling. If you own that feeling, you've got your answer. Beyond that, it is comparing a Mustang platform to a Corvette platform. The ZR-1 is built from a basic Corvette, a Shelby GT500 Super Snake is built from a Mustang beginning, two different animals. Performance................yes the ZR-1 is lighter and runs in the 10's, BUT the much heavier Super Snake also runs in the 10's (documented 10.87@134mph). <<4K pound car, and this was a 725, not the current 750 or 800 horse version. Other peformance, real world documented in the link below, ZR-1 and 725 Super Snake both included in the pack................. http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?/topic/41813-super-snake-passes-them-all-at-buttomwillow/page__p__683247__hl__%2Bsuper+%2Bsnake+%2Bpasses__fromsearch__1#entry683247 What does a new ZR-1 cost vs. used? I thought the ZR-1 was approx. $100K? MSRP? Both of these cars are beasts, what really eats the Corvette guys up is that a "Mustang" (a pony car) is performing in "their world" and equaling their top performance Corvette (as documented) in many ways..........I love it!! A stock ZR1 is faster than a stock Super Snake, but that changes when a Super Snake gets more tire under it. A ZR1 is probably easier for an inexperienced driver, but an experienced driver with the right options including wider tires or drag radials will walk away from a ZR1 in the majority of scenarios. In the end, do you want a sports car or a muscle car? The choice is yours and they are both awesome American Muscle.
Boss Hoss 540
Put it this way----do you want to race from stop light to stop light or from Dallas to Oklahoma City either way the Vette Wins. The Cobra S/S looks very cool but is very very short on aerodynamics and in fact they put fake crap on the car to slow it down. Me I would go for the S/S even if it is a poser. Yes, that is going to have to be the OP's decision, Premier American Sports Car or Muscle Car Mustang. I found the 1/4 mile tests of Gary Patterson's 725. I hate to quote numbers in discussions like this without some "real world" documentaion to back up my claims. There is too much "internet speculation" on forums that results from opinions rather than facts. After this test on the M/T Street E.T.'s I kept begging................I want to see a test with "slicks", not treaded Street E.T.'s.................SLICKS!!.......................Maybe low 10's?!? @4000+lbs. Would the ZR-1 run mid 10's to low 10's @4000+lbs? <<Would it even get into the 10's?!?! I wonder what RPM the ZR-1 lauches at, to run in the 10's? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the SVT world, it all started here in the 2000/2001 time period. Corvette guys hate these cars also.....................Again, a Mustang playing (and competing) in "their world". Hee, hee, hee! R
