RobParrinello
i need someone to verify this for me.. I was looking up some mods for my gt500 , i came across a steeda 2.65 supercharger pulley upgrade... it says if you add the steeda CAI intake plus a dyno tune u can get 144 horse power at the WHEELS out of it.. does this seem right or is it bullshit because the CAI and pulley r only 550$.. if so would this be a good idea for a 1st mod.. also with all this power upgrade do you need to add anything else to your engine to protect from such a huge increase in HP?? Thanks
TexasShelby
It seems a little high but not much if any at all. What year GT500 do you have? If you have an 07-09 Before you put the muscle in I'd look into a new set of Lower Control Arms and perhaps a set of springs and adjustable panhard bar to lower it. I can't speak for the later models but those years have a wheel hop problem that needs to be addressed or all the horsepower in the world won't matter. The LCAs stop the wheel hop and the springs drop your CG, the cars handles much better with the butt down. I installed Steeda springs for a vert on mine, as well as BMR LCAs and adj panhard bar. The car rides and handles completely different. For the good. One more little mod you might consider to install is a KR or equivalent shifter. That is also another weak spot on the early models. Anyone with info on later models, is this still true?
Justin00Stang
You need good tune, pulley, and intake to see gains anything like that on an 07-09. 144 is at the very top end of the spectrum, and only if the car dynos very low stock. They all generally end up around 530-550RWHP with a good tune and intake/pulley setup.
BAD500Chris
I went from about 440rwhp to 548hp/556tq with just the Ford 113mm CAI and the VMP 2.59 pulley on 91oct and a safe tune. Totally worth it.
YZD263
I gained 105 RWHP from stock, also with a safe 91 oct tune. No driveability issue whatsoever and fuel mileage remained the same. This is a very cost effective mod that yields great results.
skeet
I went with the Ford Racing CAI, a VMP 92 octane performance tune and the VMP 2.59 inch pulley. The VMP pulley tool made that mod a breeze to do. Haven't done a dyno run on it but I do notice the extra power.

Are you trying to say JLT sells a package deal for a pulley, CAI, and tuner? Your sentences aren't put together where I can easily understand. I have never heard of this. And I've never heard of a JLT tuner either hehehe. Guess it doesn't matter since I'm staying stock till my extended warranty is out lol
TexasShelby
I purchased a JLT CAI with a SCT tuner in 07. I had to return the car to stock once to take it to the POS dealership here for a recall notice. It was very easy to do, took about 30 minutes. But usually most dealerships don't make a fuss over a CAI these days. But it would be good to get to know your service mgr and get his thoughts on it. In 11 I purchased the 2.59 VMP stock-look pulley, puller tool and tune. Wow, want a huge difference this has made, as well as the Lethal Hi-Flow cats and X pipe. VMP provided new tunes for my tuner. I uploaded the tune I am using in the car and left the OEM and JLT CAI 91 tune, just in case I needed to go back for some reason. I'm not sure, but I think SCT has a new tuner, the SCT Xcalaber 3. I would see what SCT tuner is new on their site and make sure that is what your getting from who you buy from. Not what that tuner has left on his shelf. 08KR525
I have used different pullers for swapping supercharger pulleys on the GT500 and VMP's is by far superior to all of them in my opinion. Very good instructions too!
