jmn444
I think those come assembled, can't say that's the installers fault for sure unless they tightened them before putting the scoop on.

That piece should of at least been 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.

That piece should of at least been 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. There is not that much fiberglass there I can tell you that,, When the scoop came off,, there are 8 holes in the hood .. If the grill brakes loose again, I'll have the scoop taken off, and cut the grill out, am thinking with the 8 holes in the hood, there is enough there to let air ,under the hood,, once again want to thank Windy, Roger, Budman, and Randy for all there help. I still donot understand,, If you buy a part from SA to put on your Shelby Mustang, and the part is org. equ. from SA and or FORD, ,and it has a 12 month 12,000 mile Warr.IT IS NOT COVERED, For the secong time in less then 7 months I had to pay $150.00 for labor,The first one was on me, I should not have to pay the second TIME !!!,, Why SA and or FORD would not cover the cost of this scoop replacement LABOR !!! Just saying. I wonder if Mr.Shelby reads these post,,,,, just saying T/
regalt87
For all the trouble they should replace them with a shaker.
David Hawkins
For all the trouble they should replace them with a shaker. But then you would be copying a Mach 1 or Boss 302...........I always held the Shelby Mustang above those. I believe that Shelby wanted to produce a new Shelby Mustang that Looked better then Factory GT's, Performed better then Factory GT's and was Afordable. It was the Scoops and the Stripes that came back to bite him in the A$$. SAI should have used a unique Fiberglass Hood with built in Scoop and let the LeMans Stripes be a Dealer Installed Option or even a Customer Installed item. SGT/SC#0471
The new glass scoop is awesome and works perfect. There is not a need for anything else. You say you are out of warranty? They sell you one for $170, that is a smoking deal for a nice quality part. SA fixed it. The stripes still suck, SA could still offer to paint them on for a reasonable fee IMHO. It would go far in the future and make them money, so ?
TNTchris
Need some help all!.... Just purchased an 07SGT black and my hood scoop is warped. Obviousily my car is out of warranty, so do I call SA and tell them my issue? From the posts above it looks like I have to buy a new scoop for $170. Does this come with the rivits? My stripes are fine but do have to apply new ones if I am just replacing the scoop? I am in St. Louis, Mo does any with a SGT on the board recommend a Ford dealer close by to perform scoop replacement? Thanks TNTchris

Yes, the replacement comes with a set of rivets and no you do not need to replace the stripes but do need to take care not to damage them beyond the area covered by the scoop. You need to contact SA and you can find the process, contact info, etc., outlined here: http://www.teamshelb...nfo-for-owners/ And hints, tips, and tricks to installation here: http://www.teamshelb...d-scoop-thread/ I would recommend you take the time to read over above thread and learn from the pain and experiences of others and save yourself MUCH frustration. BTW: Since you are out of warranty I would suggest you find a quality body shop to do the work and not use a dealer. Good luck!
