jmn444
This may be a really dumb question, but hoping somebody here (maybe SA staff?) knows what kind of marker Shelby is using to sign the black/darker dash panels? I'm sending the panel from my '68 off for the driver of the car I'm cloning/tributing to sign, and I want to make sure I send along a marker that will hold up well... Suggestions? medium tip or broad tip?
shelbymotorsports
No need to send in a marker. The best suggestion I have is to attach a note saying that you would like Mr. Shelby to use a silver paint pen when autographing your 1968 part.. You may want to call the Shelby Foundation at 310-327-5072 and ask what options you have available. Steve
jmn444
This one isn't going to Shelby, I just figured they knew what worked well and holds up good.
jmn444
Sorry if my question wasn't clear! I may call them to ask anyway.

I'd still suggest a silver paint pen for a dark colored car part. Steve
shel-b001
Had my 68` Shelby glove box door signed with a gold ink medium tip pen several years ago. I left it with Shelby as other people in the line seen my glove box & wanted Gold which they didn`t have.

David Hawkins
sharpie makes "paint pens" then too? Just go to the Arts & Crafts area at Wal-Mart and grab a Silver Paint Pen and your good to go.
2010KonaBlueGT
sharpie makes "paint pens" then too? The paint pens I've used were made by Testers. There is a Red/white '09 GT500 sitting on the showroom floor of Phil Long Ford in Co. Springs. The dash is signed by Carroll Shelby and it was done with a Silver Paint Pen. Don Johnston
Good deal, thanks for the info guys! On body parts and most items, a paint pen is the way to go. Marking pen ink will fade. I have over three dozen signatures done since the 1980s and have had some of the ink signatures redone with paint pen to avoid the problem in the future. None of the paint pen signatures have faded or disappeared. While the office does usually have a good supply of pens, some get old, worn out or left behind at an event. So definitely include the pen you want used. B)

Maybe becouse it was done with what appears to be a fine pen/marker. I've seen alot done by a sharpie pen and they do not look like as thin of script.
