Imatk
This guy is selling this car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-GT-500-2008-SHELBY-GT-500-MUSTANG-SUPER-SNAKE-/330620551224?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cfa854038 as a genuine Super Snake... saying it only needs to go to Vegas to have the serial plate etc. put on. Looks to me like he's passing it off as a clone. What do you guys think? Just don't want some unsuspecting buyer to pay for something that isn't genuine. twobjshelbys
Well, he's been called on it - it may have most of the SS parts, but it's not a SS. Anyone bidding has the facts laid out in front of them.

The auction should say, "we have all of the receipts to show what parts we have bought to make it "appear" to be a Super Snake to the unknowing". I see a set of Alcoa's (no close-ups to verify Super Snake logo on wheels lips) and the center caps are generic SPP Alcoa, I see a Super Snake hood (readily available), Super Snake stripes (all over eBay), a gauge pod (from SPP), CF splitter and mirror caps (also available from SPP). I don't see anything Super Snake specific on this car. The seller says it is being called a clone because it didn't get documented at Vegas......................it isn't even a clone, it is a White GT500 with some readily available generic Super Snake parts that can be bought by anyone who has the $$$ to buy the parts. It is a nice looking GT500, but the decklid letters haven't even been moved. I don't see "scoops or plates" over the rear 1/4 windows (or the interior plates in this area), the rockers appear to be OEM GT500, no Super Snake wings next to the Cobra emblems (fenders and grill), not even any hood pins. There is really nothing "Super Snake" on this car that would be part of a Super Snake build at Vegas or any other authorized Shelby SS build facility, except maybe the hood, gauges w/pod, splitter and mirror caps. After looking further at the pictures...............no front brake duct bezels either. There is not much to be called a "clone" here. R
ShelbyEra08
I would still buy it, but i would replace the side stripes and take off the words SuperSnake
Max Cruise
I would have (ofcourse),took it for a quick-dynocheck with the current owner before buying, for verification purposes. If he'd have said its 725 package I would've done the same. And if it comes out to be true,I don't give a heck if its a real Snake or not.If I'm getting the power and the looks (for a "clone",in your words) for a decent price, yes I would go for it. SNKDOUT
Notice how there is no PIC's of under the hood! Also the Striping is to narrow.

Robert M
He also needs to center "SHELBY" on the trunk lid................Looks like an almost clone to me. Yes, that is what I mentioned at the beginning of my second paragraph that you quoted above............"It is a nice looking GT500, but the decklid letters haven't even been moved." The first time that I really heard "clone" mentioned a lot was when I owned my Cobra R's 1993, 1995 and 2000. A person would have a non-Cobra R but have the Cobra R wheels and fiberglass hood (especially the 1995 and 2000), plus the 00R rear wing and splitter on the 99-04's and people were calling these cars "clones". I asked do they have a 20 gallon Fuel Safe fuel cell, instead of the stock fuel tank? <<This item is very visible with a quick glance from behind. Do they have an rear seat delete cloth bucket seat interior? no a/c, no radio? <<These were just a few of the items that would be manitory if it were to even be considered the beginnings of a "clone", and we haven't even opened the hood yet to see if there was a unique Cobra R engine and cooling system parts that are Cobra R only. At a quick glance, the eBay car can appear to be a Super Snake, it has Alcoa's and the hood w/stripes, it has the stance of a Super Snake, but once you go beyond a glance and look at the this car, Super Snake quickly fades from the description. Not that it is a bad looking GT500, heck it looks like a Super Snake (at first), so that alone makes it a cool looking car! One other thing that I noticed...............It seems like the ram air opening was darkened/sprayed back inside the inner hood opening area. This darkening allowed the stripes to blend in and not abruptly stop as is visible inside the openings on this White cars hood. My divider area is also Black, not body color in the center ram air portion of the hood. All of this really sticks out on a White car. R

shelbymotorsports
This auction has so much wrong with it and on so many different levels. I think I like this quote the best: THIS CAR IS A SUPER SNAKE,THE ONLY THING IT DOESNOT HAVE IS THE PLATE SIGNED BY CAROL SHELBY BECAUSE WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR EVERYTHING WAS DONE EXCEPT SENDING IT TO LAS VEGAS TO HAVE THE PLATE PUT ON.IT If anyone thinks they can build a Super Snake clone in their driveway and then have SAI install a Super Snake CSM plaque.......... ................well lets just say that ain't going to happen.
