EL SHELBY
Does anyone know if the PCM from a different model year be interchanged for the PCM that came with the SGT? I ask as I'm considering leaving the PCM in my SGT unchanged allowing for an easy return to stock while having another PCM with a custom tune. Clearly, using a tuner to retain the OE tune from the PCM is easier and more cost effective, but I like the idea of sending a PCM to Steeda who will install a fresh Spanish Oak (I think that's the right OS) system that will adjust it's self to mods and the running conditions ensuring you always have an optimal tune. I'm not having much luck locating a PCM from and '08 GT but I've come across several from prior years. So, can the PCM from another model year be interchanged? jmn444
I don't think so... but very well could be wrong. FRPP said I couldn't even use Andrew's SGT's whipple tune for mine, i had to send them my vin and the tuner to have it redone for my specific car. How does that work when you have to order one from Ford? I heard about a local guy that had some issues going from SCT tuning to HP tuning software that jacked his PCM and he had to order a new one? jmn444
I don't really know, I thought it was really weird that two sgt's from 07 couldn't share a tuner.
EL SHELBY
Is Ford simply flashing a new tune over the top of the OE tune? This was my assumption, an is what every tuner out there does. This is why I like the Steeda arrangement. Steeda is not flashing a tune. They completely wipe and install a new system. Ford gave them access/ability to do this, or at least that's what I understand. It's becuase of this that I assume any PCM will work. The big difference is that Steeda's system self adjusts to the environment where the OE system and all custom tunes are static. I need to call Steeda and ask. EL SHELBY
I just re-read Steeda's discription. Sounds like I completely wrong about their set-up. Still need to call them.

2007_Shelby_GT
I would have to guess that it's just like your home PC - which you can upgrade and or modify as you please, you just have to reinstall your operating system and software so that it recognizes the changes. With that logic, you could use any PCM so long as it came from the same year, make, and model vehicle, then wipe out any memory of the previous vehicle and reinstall tune to match yours. Naturally, if Ford or whomever installed some type of hardware/software to prevent this, then no, it may not be possible. Sam
