Shelby GT on the Ford Racing Collector Vehicles Home Page!

It's unfortunate that the Shelby GT gets little, if any, respect. I can't count the number of times that the GT500 gets the glory, while the "red-headed step child" Shelby GT gets pushed aside!

There's still a lot of folks that need to be educated!

Cool, check it out!

And why no 2008 SGT? They made twice as many and then some of the 2007 SGT's

I hear ya on the red headed step child though. Happened to me today at a car show. Regular GT 500 vert no mods next to my SGT. Judge said he rated the GT 500 over mine because of the GT500's stature, even though mine looked nicer and got more compliments. Does get annoying a bit.

Agreed, no mention of the Barrett Jackson cars.

There are some other incomplete and inconsistent things. Makes me wonder how old this area is and did someone here just happen on it?

Stature?? That makes no sense at all. Purely subjective. I guess no one can out-trophy a Rolls Royce in that judge's book. Rarity, looks better and more compliments should be given the most emphasis.

Maybe it will work it's way from the Left coast-

My SGT just took a first last weekend over 3 GT500's including a 2010

Not sure that's right...or I'm reading it wrong.

There were about 3 times more 2007's than 2008's.

Still no reason to skip over the Vista Blues!

And am I the only one who shakes his head in disgust every time he overhears someone calling a GT500 a "Cobra"?!

Hang in there folks! One day people will figure out that ours are the "real" Shelbys!

You're right Dan and that's one of the main reasons I bought my SGT. It is a true Shelby :worship: There was a nice low mileage GT500 for sale locally at the time I started looking, but I wanted the SGT. Glad I made the choice. Interesting too I met the guy who bought the local GT500 and he was equally impressed with my GT as I was with his GT500.

It meant that the 08's should be even more of a colectible since there were a third of them made in comparison to the 07's. And I'm not sure where you see me saying cobra in my post? maybe you weren't reading it right like you said or I wasn't as clear as I should have been.

My standard response about what makes the SGT special above all other Shelbys is not how or where

it was made, but how many SCCA national championships it owns (2007, 2008, 2009). That happens

to equal the number of SCCA national championships another Shelby that they may have heard about

(GT-350 in 1965, 1966, & 1967).

That usually wraps up any such conversations.

I'm new to this's an a new to me 2007 Shelby GT (3500 miles when I bought) When I first looked at car he was proud of the fact that the car was turned into a shelby by the Shelby team in Vegas and comes with a dash plate

Talk to Ford, follow the link to the SVT "COBRA" and there plain as day, they call the GT500 a "COBRA." This is just plain and simple economics, FORD wants to produce a car, cash in on Shelby's name, and still have their own SVT program. BL--the "GT500" is a FORD product, period. NEVER touched, modified, or even breathed upon by anyone at Shelby. I'm not hating on the GT500, it's a great car, but to call it a Shelby is like calling the new Corvette a "Callaway" just because you bought the license of the name dosen't make it so.

FORD needs to get it straight, it's either a SVT Cobra (which IMO it is) or it's a GT500, sans the "Shelby" name.
