I'm not trying to be rude here but I honestly don't get wh ythis is the pic of the year/decade??? You know anyone can send thier dash plate to The Carroll Shelby Foundation and for a $250 donation get it personnally signed by Mr. Shelby? My 2012 GT500 actually has no air bag cover on it right now because I'm waiting to get it back.

While I agree with this, I think to be fair, I need to point out that the "Mustang II pic of the year/decade" bar is probably pretty low. Maybe even lower than "Clown Car pic of the year"

Some of you are reading more into my choice of topic title than should be. I'm not making fun of the Mustang II and have even owned both a 1977 & 1978 back in the day.

I thought it was interesting that the owner of this Mustang II would have Carroll autograph the dash when Carroll had absolutely no involvement with the Mustang II. In fact if you look back in history you'll see that when this owners Mustang II was built Ford's relationship with both Shelby & Iacocca was at its lowest point ever.

Again there was no ill will towards Mustang II enthusiasts and if you take a second look you'll see where I've asked Robert Lane to add a Mustang II sub forum to Team Shelby.

Which is the part of your post that had *me* scratchin' my head.

As you said, SHELBY had no part of the Mustang II.....so why put a MUSTANG section on the Team SHELBY forums?

Because we have a section for the Fox body Mustang's that Carroll also was not involved with. Doesn't seem right to me that we ignore the Mustang II owners/enthusiasts so why not make them feel welcome on Team Shelby?

We already have a Mustang section on the site at http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?/forum/154-1965-2004-mustangs/

So, all we need is a Mustang II sub-forum within the Mustang forum and that will take care of it!

I've removed the Mustang II pic caption from my OP title. My attempt at a little humor on the TS board was not meant to demean the Mustang II nor the owner of this car. If Carroll's signature was on a Camaro, which it has, I would have probably made the same attempt at a little photo caption humor all in the name of some innocent fun.

I've never been a real big MII fan but I did really like the Pro Stock MIIs of Nicholson, Glidden, Gapp & Roush, etc.

And then there was this - the Jack Roush-built 460-powered creation that was one of the baddest street machines of all time. This car knocked me out when it first hit the magazines and it still does.

Oh, and don't forget - if not for the MII, a million street rods might still be clanking around on Corvair front suspension!

And if it wasn't for the Mustang II the Ford Mustang may have gone away. Compare 1971-73 Mustang production to Mustang II production and you'll see that Iacocca made the right decision. But then again the Mustang should have never got to where it was in 1973. I always felt the Grande name fit those years perfectly.

I don't know.....I have owned about 30 different 1971-1973 Flatback Mach 1's and loved them all. You couldn't see out the Back Window worth a darn but they were good looking Cars. I would put Air Shocks on the Rear so I could put some 12" Wide 15" Aluminum Slot Mags on the Rears with N50's and 7" Wide Slots on the Fronts with some F 70's. Sometimes I would go with Keystone Raiders or Keystone Classics.

I did not mean to put down the Cobra II in any way. Mater of fact I like the Cobra IIs always wanted a white with blue combo like my current Shelby. My wife and I looked for one back in the the late 80s but they were all rusted bad and could not find a nice one. Id love a photo iv my Shelby with a Cobra II the same color. Enough said.
