HPT BANDIT
I went to a Pro-Touring autocross this past weekend and had a blast, but I came across an issue with my car. Even though I turned the advanctrac off, it still kicked in a few times. I do know how to turn it off (hold down break and traction control for 5+ sec) Twice the service advanctrac light came on during my runs and stayed on. It went away when I re-started the car. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? Would a tune get rid of it? My car is a 2012 with a little over 600 miles. I was wondering if it could be some kind of engine break in nanny. Any info would be appreciated.
johnnyy69
i think the only way to turn it off completely is with a tune.
Ezareth
I thought the only way to fully shut off traction control was to press brake and hold traction control button for 8 seconds which displays ECC or something off. From what I recall there are two components of our traction control and this shuts off both of them, I just don't have the acronyms memorized. Shutting off the car resets this every time. Mine seems to work OK and I only have just over 200 miles on my car so far. Colin
HPT BANDIT
I know I had advancetrac off because it said "AdvanceTrac off" on the display. I'm going to get the car dynoed this weekend to see if it pops up again.
HPT BANDIT
I got the car dynoed and it didn't pop up. I'm not sure what the problem was. I haven't been able to re-create it. The car dynoed pretty good numbers 514hp and 488tq. Not too bad for stock.

Toy Cobra
I witnessed the same thing this past weekend while running hot laps on a road course. All was ok until I did straight line braking from 130 mph down to 55, then turned sharp right then left over the curbing. I saw the yellow car skidding light pop up on the dash along with the traction control off light. They both stayed on until my cool down lap then both turned off at the same time. I always run the diagnostics before running hot laps to make sure Advanctrac is off. It was obviously off up to that point in the lap. I'm wondering if the computer decided I was way out of control when thrashing the car through the corners and decided the idiot behind the wheel needed help driving. I did not need help, I ran fastest time of the day beating over 90 other cars for the day. Mine is a 2011 with no mods, just Hoosiers.
Grabber11GT
Did you try "SPORT MODE" foot on brake and press t/c button twice in sequence....meant for track use.

Toy Cobra
I found out that when doing track touring I must have all traction control turned off or I'll burn through a set of rear brake pads in short order. Found that out when I thought control was full off, noticed that nice brake burning smell, when I came off the track the rears were just radiating. kawwy600
There are 4 modes but I have yet to track my car. I hope you've resolved your issue
Double500
Do I have sport mode on a 2012 if it isn't equipped with the SVTPP option? I know I can select "sport mode" for the steering, but havent been able to get it to show "sport mode" for the TC. All I get is either On or Off. Grabber11GT
Found out last night that even in "Sport Mode" the ESC still kicks in when you kick her out sideways. Found that out yesterday morning on the wet cold road when I went drifting around a corner...that ESC sucks!
2010KonaBlueGT
Do I have sport mode on a 2012 if it isn't equipped with the SVTPP option? I know I can select "sport mode" for the steering, but havent been able to get it to show "sport mode" for the TC. All I get is either On or Off. Yes, the 2010 and newer cars have FOUR modes of Traction Control (TC). Default Mode: TC/Advance Track (ESC) ON Press brake, tap TC button once: TC OFF (but Advance track still on). Press brake, double tap TC button: Sport Mode Advance Track ON Press brake, HOLD BUTTON UNTIL DASH DISPLAY INDICATES: Advance Track OFF (TC and ESC OFF) When I hold the button down and turn the TC/ESC completely off, the car can get sideways in a HURRY in the first two gears. In "Sport Mode", it will still spin the tires but just slightly untill the TC backs the fly-by-wire throttle off a tad. I can take corners (on a hot surface) at a MUCH higher thottle application than with it off. In default mode, the car will actully lay down and fall on its face when I hit the tire spin area of RPM. It's made for wet or slick surfaces (see your owners manual) and I *usually* drive the car around in Sport Mode or occasionally with TC/AT totally OFF (for a much more thrilling ride!). If I'm going to do a smokey burn-out, it's with the TC/AT OFF and in 2nd gear. There are still two big black marks all the way down the block in front of my friends house, from July 4th 1-1/2 years back! And I mean, ONE FULL BLOCK LONG (on my OEM 19" F1's). 2010KonaBlueGT
Found out last night that even in "Sport Mode" the ESC still kicks in when you kick her out sideways. I found the same with my Whipple 2.9L equipped car the other day, in 2nd gear going down a STRAIGHT road with a *slight* crown to it. I hit the power band and the car KICKED out faster than I knew it. Rather than feather the gas like I ususally do, I let off and it snapped back. Gave me a thrill I don't want to soon repeat. That was with WOT, TC/ESC OFF in 2nd gear (accelerating from 1st through 2nd). That's the fist time it did that and it was....."alarming", to say the least. If I would'a held on to it, I would have wrecked, without question. It FELT like I was 90d out but I know from past expericne that much less than 45d feels like 90d. I'd say I was probably at about 30d to one side. And that was on a dry, warm, straight road! I can build 'em, not drive 'em! Phill

smitty328
:burnout: I have run into the same problem with my 2011 on the track. Most of the time it just kicks in at times, some of the time it turns itself back on. Every now and then I get a "service traction control" message. The dealer says there is nothing wrong. I don't really want to ofer them too much info about tracking the car. Sport Mode is worthless!
