Thinking about trading the Shelby for one of theese !!

Really? Seriously? I assume you have driven the vehicle enough to really know you are going to love it and not miss the Shelby? I'll post what I posted to someone else that said "Am I nuts?"

Go store or put the Shelby away somewhere for at least 2 weeks. Where you can't get at it.

Then, go rent or find a way to drive this vehicle for a week or so and exercise the heck out of it.

For a decision like this, it's worth a little investment just to confirm that you are really going to miss not having the Shelby around.

I would be willing to bet the first week you will really miss it(even though you'll still own it).

Lastly, do what is right for you, however, I think you will miss the Shelby. (big time).

CTS-V is a worthy vehicle...IF you can get used to the styling. They really haven't grown on me yet, but I haven't driven them, either. They aren't retro-cool like the Mustangs, and they aren't pretty like the Italian exotics. They're not as cleanly styled as many German toys. As for performance with comfort though, they are very interesting. I sort-of like the idea of the CTS-V wagon, but the styling...

OMG... IF you're going to do something this radical and you insist on giving Government Motors MORE of your hard earned money to prop up their balance sheet... then wait a few months and get a ZL1 with the 6 speed (I can't imagine owning ANY performance type vehicle equipped with paddle shifters). At least then, even us Shelby owners might give you a nod when we're passing by. hysterical.gif

+1.

Cool but just don't "have" it IMO.

I like the idea of renting one for a week...anybody want to lend me a 550 Marenello for a week?

The wife and I were in the Shelby this weekend. Pulled up to a lite next to one of these... My comments... Nice car, they even put the vette motor in them and they are very fast. Wife said, "They look like a "suit" car, not a sports car."

So yes... I think you're nuts. Unless you wear a suit. :)

I like driving in faded jeans and T-shirt, thanks. I don't like a 'stuffy' car, but I'd still be wearing jeans and T-shirt to drive them too. If I had lots more garage space and loose cash, I'd have a CTS-V coupe, and the wagon. I wouldn't trade the KR for either, though.

Your nuts! just kidding. Fast sedan or a fast muscle car. Both are so far apart in appearance it's hard for me to compare. The same for driving experience, one is easy to drive fast the other takes a lot of skill to go fast.

I prefer the Sedan to the Coupe. The Coupe looks odd in person, especially the rear quarter and back end.

I'd still never buy one. :sing_rain:

X2 Sedan looks much nicer. Got to tell you though that the Shelby is, well the Shelby. Today at a Publix grocery store a guy driving a F350 pickup pulled next to me and spent ten minutes asking questions and looking at my car, a 2007 SGT with 60,000 miles. Guess what, the guy's "cool" car is a 2008 Porsche Carrera that he seldom drives. I think he's going to be buying an SGT or GT-500, he couldn't believe the price and the bang-for-the-buck you get from these lowly Fords. I know that our Shelbys don't always have the bling but boy do they go at a reasonable price. regards, Larry

The CTS or STS or whatever the one that is basically a Corvette with 4 seats and 4 doors is used as the instructor vehicle at the Bondurant school. Each session was introduced with the instructor and his three students getting the intro to the track - route, apexes, braking points, etc. He was able to whip that Caddy around the track as nimbly as the Vette. I was impressed with its power and handling. It falls in the category of the old Fairlane 500s with the 427. Innocent looking kid-in-ricer whupping power.

P.S. GM doesn't do it for me. I was disappointed by the build quality of the Corvettes. Like buying a tract house from US Home.

I am sorry but that car looks like a tampon with tires! Sorry but if it was white and had a string that is what it would be.

Boss Hoss, when I saw you replied, I clicked fast to read this .......knowing I would find a very unique post! And that it is! :):)

I drove my Shelby during work last week. It was gorgeous--low 70's, sunshine, puffy white clouds, birds singing....you get the idea. I seldom drive the car on work assignments. They see you drive up in a Shelby Vert and your bid instantly looks higher than the guy in the beat up van or pickup (I also have both), but it was a great day and I was enjoying it. Stopped at a dry-ice mfg plant to give them a bid on some floor work and while I'm measuring the floors I hear the manager exclaim from the corner office, "Oh my god! Who's driving the Cobra?" I stuck my head back in the door and sheepishly admitted it was mine. He said, "I gotta call Brian, he's got to see this." and picked up the phone and paged Brian in the plant. A few minutes later Brian and another engineer from the plant came in. The manager took him over to the window and said, "Look at this." Brian's reply was "Oh my god, it's a GT 500." What ensued was a huge ego booster for me and I have no idea if I'll get the job or not! The point of the whole story is--how many times do you find some one that raises that much ruckus over a Caddy that you're not sure what it is to begin with????? BTW, there was a Vette in the parking lot too and I did not scream "OMG, who's driving the big plastic go kart?"

Not everyone is a right winger who hates the government. Those people should not be subjected to the rantings of the likes of you. How about you keep such rants to yourself and just talk about the cars?

I got pulled over once in my Shelby with ratty clothes on and the officer asked me 3 times if I was sure it was my car...haha! No ticket, he was cool.
