SGT/SC2873
Hey guys/gals. Haven't been on much the past 7 or 8 months due to a divorce. Anyway, need some help on this one. Went to a car show last weekend and the instrument cluster went crazy. Tach/Speedo quit working, TCS defaulted to off (not a bad thing) threw error code something like DTE 000. Continued to drive car w/ no problems. Monitored heat, fuel pressure on SOS three pod which continued to work fine. At first I thought, oh no here goes the computer again, but did not make sense as the car ran perfect even another 200 miles to get back home. Some friends suggested that the cluster had gone bad. I had never heard of this happening but apparently it does. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem. I located a company that will rebuild for $165 and the testimonials sound pretty good. I checked all the fuses, etc, pulled the negative battery cable for 30 minutes hoping it would clear...but no luck. Thanks, Craig

Thanks, Craig Hey Craig did you pull the cluster out its easy to take out and check the plug that feeds the cluster that may have slipped out little bit. That would cause it to go crazy also if you have a chilton or hayes repair book. That will give you the wiring lay out also check grounds Sorry about your divorce hopefully she didn't take your dog like mine did !!! or junk your 68 amx My co-workers found out about the dog and bust on me they would go over the building intercom. They would say Officer Conenna to the desk we found your dog !!! or someone would why you so pissy today and someone would say his ex took his dog !!! jwestercamp
some days i prefer my dog over my wife... good deal on keeping the dog and the shelby. My buddy got divorced a few years ago he HAD a 67 GT500 all numbers matching, his wife said you can have the Shelby, and your truck, and get the hell out i am keeping everything else. The poor SOB had to sell the Shelby for 25k for downpayment for a new house, and it sold within an hour of being listed can't understand why lol... I had similar problem with my Excursion and i bought a new cluster from Ford and it cost about 350 installed now no more problems.
slbgtsc
Will your head lights come on? I had this happen last year and it was just a blown fuse. I know you said you checked just my experience, but my head lights wouldn't come on. Hope you get it figured out.
